DDJ SX2 - Jog wheel slowly increases in resistance while scratching

I am having trouble with my DDJ SX2 jog wheels. When I do a repeated baby scratch on the jog wheel it slowly increases in drag (resistance).

If I spin the wheel a bunch of times afterwards it goes back to normal. But baby scratch again and the wheel feels like it starts to stick more and more. It gets harder and harder to push and pull over time. I called Pioneer the first time this happened and they suggested I return it and get new hardware. I did that but it’s still happening on the new one. The store demo unit doesn’t seem to suffer from the same problem.

If I can’t get this fixed I’m going to have to return the unit and get something else. Has anyone else noticed this or have any suggestions on how to fix this issue?

Follow up after contacting Pioneer

I have a thread on the Pioneer forum about this issue as well. It turns out that I had received two bad units in a row. One of the guys at the retail store had a play with it and said he agreed it wasn’t right.

Thankfully my third unit doesn’t have the same issue. It did arrive with a dent in the side though :expressionless:

Not sure what the problem was with the jog wheel, but hopefully if someone else runs into this they can read here and return the unit.
