why do you wanna switch??
iPhone syndrome?
i really like that you can adjust the tension on the platters, the updated platter size, the hardware effects on it and the ability to use two dj’s because im starting a new gig with another dj where we will both be playing together. if i could afford it obviously i would buy cdjs but this seems like the next best thing asides from cdjs.
it happens alot doesnt it…
There is always going to be the next new product on the way, best way to deal with it is not worry about it, if your comfortable with what you have and it does the job with no problems does that hard earned cash really need to be spent?
lol i still use the older model xone 62
have not looked at anything new in ages…
i still have my DJM600 (Going on 12 years old) i think im too sentimental to upgrade, it does what i need it to so never really considered it, only had to replace 1 fader that snapped on me
Wow, why not pick up a cheap used DJM-700? The rubber knobs and better soundcard would be reason enough. See them going for 250 pounds.
As for the SZ upgrade. I have an SX as well and I would love the SZ, mainly for most of the same reasons already mentioned: Bigger (CDJ-size) jogs, hardware FX but mostly the look it brings. It’s a serious piece of equipment. However, it was launched last year and it took them almost 2 years to update the SX, so in my estimation it will be at least another 6-7 months before they introduce the SZ2.
I didn’t realise they were going so cheap so may have a look into it, i can’t exactly say i haven’t had my moneys worth out of the djm600. I’ve been thinking about an sx or sz myself, i love my APC40 but i don’t fancy the s4 as I’m not convinced by the build quality, the pioneer kit is always solid
Yeah, I currently see some here for about 275 quid, I guess you can get a bargain for 250 if you negotiate a bit.
But you can’t go wrong with an SX or SZ either though.
i just dont want to pick up an sz and then have pioneer release a newer version like what happened with the sx-2.
if they do the new version will have pretty new colors and a shiny box… not much will change…
Well then the only solution is to wait until they drop the SZ2 and immediately buy that. Than you know for sure it’ll be at least 2 years before it’s ‘outdated’. But do remember that it could be a while before it drops…
And also remember that when it drops…it will be insanely expensive
You have said that the SZ can do everything you want it to do though, so what features could a hypothetical SZ2 introduce that would immediately make your SZ outdated to the point where you would feel such regret?
I mean if the SZ can do everything you want right now, the introduction of an SZ2 isn’t going to disable any of those features on the SZ- it is still going to work just as it would now. Why worry about what a future model may or may not introduce? I mean the SZ in it’s current form is hardly lacking in features/options…
I say go with the option that suits your needs as they stand and don’t worry too much about the future- staying on the crest of the controller tech wave is a mug’s game.
Alternatively hand over your billing details to Pioneer and let them ship you the latest shiny thing each time one drops. They will be all too happy to show you a flashy marketing video telling you in glorious HD just how utterly more fantastical this new shiny thing is than the almost-identical-but-definitely-no-longer-relevant-now-the-new-thing-has-landed previous shiny thing… ![]()
So I’m moving it to the Hardware forum as this is a Hardware Question.
well
The SZ is a nice piece, I think it does the functions we need in most events, my SX is good enough for what I do, so I don’t upgrade that either!
I think if it will give peace of mind get it, else stick to your current, unless you need a feature that your current cant do that the sz can?
