OK I take back the douchebag comment. Maybe I am wrong. I’m just getting sick of this drug glamorization crap. His show is designed and engineered as a pure drug fest. There is no possible way to go to that show and come out saying “that was so amazing !” without being ripped on some type of stuff. “Maybe the cool mouse head and the crazy lights will distract them from noticing the crappy music.”
What’s wrong with going to shows all fucked up

I dunno, I think I could definitely enjoy his show without drugs. However I will say that he says the only way to go is up to stadiums. The light show is does look really badass, but you know, I think I would much rather see just about any producer I like do a gig in a small, cramped bar, with a tiny little booth totally crammed with gear, people no more than 5 feet away from him. It really seems more intimate than going to a huge event, and paying 80 dollars for an “experience”.

I don’t like the club scene… Too much sweat and drugs, I’m just not that kind of guy… I’m the guy chillin’ in the back just enjoying the music. ^.^
I would prefer the $80 experience over the crammed little club.
I’m not necessarily even talking club scene. I dunno about you guys, but there is very little “hard drug” use in the venues around my area. Now… their might be some people lighting up on the back balcony, but if you dont feel like dancing, you can kick back and sip on a drink at the bar, or in a booth. Both are fun, especially if you are with friends. I avoid anywhere that has a chance of housing more than 10 guidos.
However, my hope of seeing big names in small places is unrealistic. You cant expect someone to play in a dive bar, which can only fit 150, when you could easily fill a stadium with just the sound of your name. Its just how it is, and you know, at least Deadmau5 is trying to make his show as big as it will go. Its not just him up there with a fold out table and a head, its a fucking work of fine art and engineering.
i think i might go see deadmau5 in DC this July, I’m going to be in dc over the summer doing an internship, any DC DDTT’s out there? i don’t want to go alone..
Jerome Isma - Ae played 300 meters from my house just the other weekend. I didnt pay anything to watch and I got to stand behind him, watching his set. The guy was really friendly and took time out to say hello to strangers.
The set was also killer Diller!
Saw him at a good sized club in NC (he was opening for armin) Both their sets were good for their style of djing. Song choice was spot on, and programming was impeccable. Mixes mighhht not have been the most technical, but they rocked the crowd… and in the end thats why they are famous (other than productions and marketing, and media, and stuff… lol).
I’m piss happy when I see 50 people on the floor having a good time. the Thing that hit me hardest about this deadmau5 interview (which I did enjoy, its good to see the artist talking about his work) was the fact that he said “I cant see the people” or something to that extent, when he was asked what song has been getting the best reaction out of the crowd.
He cant see the crowd. I hope I never reach that level (although I will take a cool LED mau5head, and his studio without hesitation).
Wouldn’t really call him a douche. He sometimes appears to be a little arrogant or something and following his status updates on facebook/twitter is sometimes a bit annoying. I like a few of his songs and most are just ok. What I do like about him is his technical background knowledge. At least from a technical perspective he pretty much knows what he’s doing. But I also think that tattoo just took it too far IMO. I like 8-Bit stuff but showing off that you are an 8-Bit fan was cool 5 years ago.

On the other hand I do not think that it’s much of a drug show. The music is great and maximal, so it doesn’t take a lot of drugs to enjoy it.
