Deckadance 2 DVS?
The manual states that it can learn any timecode to be used to control the software. Anyone who has the beta tested this out with Serato or Traktor timecodes yet?

Seriously considering making the switch to D2. Have you purchased it yet? How you getting on? how is the stability of D2? Checked out the demo and it was pretty cool.
So they don’t MENTION Traktor timecode specifically - BUT if D2 can LEARN ANY timecode you should be fine…
Just got my free copy from Imageline (I know a guy who knows a guy). Ill be lettin yalll know how everything goes later this week. Super diggin using my vst effects.
I used the learn function for my serato vinyl, traktor mk1, and traktor mk2 vinyl. All of which were useless. There was a lot of flutter via the software which made mixing a pain in the arse. Scratch functions were virtually impossible and no absolute mode. I will be getting hold of Torq and Ms. Pinky vinyl to complete the full review.
Cue a huge flame war over NI’s proprietary ‘locked down’ functionality just to suck money out of people and hinder the progression of DJing.
On a more serious note, that sucks about those timecodes not working even with the learn function. I liked how the program allows you to burn a CD with their own timecode though. Great for CDJ users!
I was about to make the jump over to D2 DVS, but after adding it all up, software, soundcard, timecode vinyl. Its not that far from the cost of and audio 6 and traktor scratch. They might struggle to get people to make the jump considering that.
Just a heads up that Deckadance has it’s own timecode. Not only that, but if you’re using a CD, there is a utility to generate timecode CDs in the preferences tab in your Deckadance software.
The timecode CD (Made within the software then burned) works fine. They do not have a specified timecode vinyl for deckadance tho. If they do, its not listed for sale anywhere and not listed as a supported timecode within the software.
might be a stupid question, but how is dekadance working with timecode if you cannot mix externally? (at least in the beta-version i have)
Guess i need to update then, ty![]()
U guys really should check out cross 2.0 from mixvibes. Best DVS ive found. We use with cdjs and djm 900. Its direct integration with 0 lag. No need for an external sound card, just plug in the 3 usbs to your laptop and your ready to go.
You do know that DVS stands for Digital “Vinyl” Sytem right?
But that term applies to any system that converts an analog audio signal containing timecode into position data for computer software. So it’s just as appropriate when used to describe the functionality with a CDJ.
That would be HID integration though, right? Drenkel decribes just using usb connection to control the functions of the software. Not sending any audio to the program. I might be wrong.
Neomonic, the cmd range come with D2. But I cannot find any upgrade path to D2 dvs. So you got to buy the whole dvs package even if you’ve bought a cmd controller?
That’s a good question. Something you’d have to take up with Image Line, though.
It depends on your soundcard zimfella.
Zimfella:
Ya I posted about CDJ’s, because that’s what I prefer. That is with HID, using the Pioneer gear as the sound card. It’s direct integration with the new CDJ’s, something I couldnt get with Serato.
We have another guy here that uses 1200’s and after he had a chance to use Cross he switched over immediately. (Was a die hard SSL fan)
Only difference is he has to bring a sound card, and plug everything up like a regular DVS.
Cross doesnt have as much functionality as Traktor, but it’s rock solid. Been using it 3 nights a week for 4 months now and never a single crash. I switched over because the video functionality is superior to Serato.
If your looking to do video, it’s the best thing on the market right now IMO.
