Direct Drive Single Deck Turntable for Traktor Pro?
My name is Will Hart but I Dj for parties mostly at Iowa State University and Iowa University under the name of Dj Dadblast. I currently use a vestax vci 100, a midi fighter, and a korg nano which I mapped to control loops and three effects. I am looking for a direct drive turntable that can control any deck I assign it to. It must be USB and Traktor Pro compatible. I wan’t to be able to actually scratch acapellas instead of just messing with the key, looping, juggling, and using traktors effects. I have no experience scratching but I know it is not practical to do it with the vci-100. I don’t want an all in one controller like the NS7 (I don’t want to switch to serato’s itch) or that new controller traktor came out with because I don’t want to give up my vci-100 or my midi fighter. Also I don’t want to fork out the cash. So, I’m looking for a direct drive usb turntable that maps with traktor and controls one deck at a time. Any advice would be great, it’s hard to obtain hardware advice in Iowa. The best we have are guitar centers with people who don’t even know what Traktor is
If you want to control Traktor with a TT you’re going to have to get Traktor Scratch Pro or Duo with a native instruments soundcard, or whatever they release in the next couple of months with the expected upgrade. Unfortunately you can’t just plug in a USB turntable and use it with traktor, you need a timecoded vinyl. I’m assuming you want real vinyl since you say you want to scratch.
That’s what I thought. I can upgrade to scratch pro no sweat. I currently use an Audio 2 Dj which, as we all know, is a native instruments controller. But it is the cheapest. Is it sufficient? Could someone fill me in on what timecode is? I feel like a bitch asking
I don’t need real vinyl, that’s for sure. In fact, the Traktor Kontrol S4 looks like its jog wheels would meet my needs if they were direct drive. I’m not a scratch-dj by any means. A better example for what I’m looking for is the Numark NS7, which is also offered as a single deck controller although I forget what thats called. Thats what I want though! One direct drive table just like the Numark NS7, but I need one that works in Traktor and one that can switch decks to A,B,C, or D on command.
I feel like traktor pro has got to be able to handle a basic direct drive table. My vestax jog wheels might even meet my basic needs if they were more responsive. But let me understand this: In order to use a turntable that turns with the song one must have timecode and scratch pro?
Yes, you need scratch pro and a timecode. Jog wheels on the S4 and the vast majority of other controllers don’t move, just like the VCI ones. Numark make a single deck version of the NS7, I forget what it’s called but there’s a review on the blog. It’s an itch controller but I think it can be mapped to traktor.
The single version of the NS7 is the V7. It feels really sturdy and is kinda heavy. There was a rebate for a free hard case and 200 bucks but idk if its still around
I would say no. You can scratch in Traktor Pro if you have scratching turned on and you use a motorized turntable that sends midi messages. If you want to use a real turntable with TCVinyl, then YES you MUST have TSPro.
To map a button to scratch, go to your controller manager settings and go to Add In… > Transport > Scratch
I’d look into the Stanton SCS1d or the Numark V7 as previously mentioned.
That said, I think the scratch functionality is better in TSP because it is designed for that. But try it in TPro before you just up and switch.
surprised no one mentioned the denon DN-S3700.
Has midi-mode for TraktorPro and a “time-code hybrid-mode” for Traktor Scratch or Serato Scratch.

unfortunately the videos are gone from youtube. But since everything is midi mapped, I also thought it would not be a problem to even create a four-layer toggle mapping.
Are you kidding? Of course Traktor maps things. You go to settings and device management and then you choose your controller. Traktor has many controllers pre mapped and the mappings come with the program. The VCI 100 is one of them.
