DJ Policy - Remixes

DJ Policy - Remixes

Merry XMas everybody!

I am getting some more partys and stuff getting lately and i was wondering how you people feel about playing other peoples remixes.

For example: i like the remixes/bootlegs from Vato Gonzales, Mixin Marc, DJs From Mars. Now, lets not argument my musical taste, i only want to know: Would you spin other peoples remixes?

I do it sometimes because it’s more fun and its much easier to go from house track to house track (eventhough its a Top40 or RnB remix).

So hiw do u think about this?

Plenty of ppl play other guys remixes

i don know anyone who desnt.

in the end of the day, if its good, WHY NOT!

I think that most people will agree that playing remixes is all good, but what do you guys think of mashups?

i do all the time. it makes it soo much more fun for me to play top 40 especially if its a bangin remix.

im playing a bar on NYE and i deffinately plan on steering the music towards some music i love like porter robinson

and idk if you guys follow mysto and pizzi alot but theyre putting out some fire lately

ive dropped some girltalk in the middle of a set just as a segway into a completely different genre

porter robinson strikes again!

but frankly i got the marten horger edit (which all it practically changes is the kick, from 4x4 to breaks)

misha_val, do u mean prerecorded mashpus or doing it live?

either is acceptable from what i have seen,

If they dance to it, don’t worry. Be happy

yeah its becoming a bit of a man crush

Just don’t drop your own name onto it during playback and its all good.

came to post “paging gianmarco” but he was here already :stuck_out_tongue:

people know who i am ???

wow ive only been here a few months, didnt think id be “known”…

kinda makes me wonder if i post here too much:roll_eyes:

Mashups and remixes are great. Especially when it has a completely different feel from the original, keeps people on their toes 'cause they know and like the original but they’re getting a new experience from the remix or it being mashed with another track.

I see it as an advertisement for the artist. I, personally, would be stoked if anyone dropped any of my mashups. If the artist has it up for free then it should all be ok, just make sure to tell anyone who asks for the name of the track.

me still confused as to what the question was…

so you only play original mixes?..wow…thats some integrity…

If it’s a remixed song it’s hard to not play them. If it’s a mixed set with more than two songs back to back (not a mash up) then absolutely not.

Same… even the top producers in the world still play tracks from other people.

im pretty sure at least half my iTunes collection is made up of other peoples remixes. Most of the time the remixes tend to be better tracks than the original. thats usually why they remix things isnt it?

… im a little confused here also. The only reason i wouldnt play other peoples remixes, is if i were doing like a live set, where i was playing all my productions live. My DJ sets though are probably 2/3 or 3/4 other peoples remixes, a couple of originals, and sometimes i try whack in one or 2 of my own tracks aswel :stuck_out_tongue:
