Ableton, PCDJ, Mixmeister, I’m sure there are more but those are the ones I’m familiar with. What exactly are you looking to do?
I’m sure there’s more, but this is the only one I can personally confirm.
well. i use traktor to do mixes when im on the train etc,
i wanted to find out if there was an alternative.
can you use any serato products with a laptop alone?
Why not use a micro-mini controller like an LPD 8 or something.
yes, but only to organize songs. in order to play them you need the soundcard (sl3)
u can get the full verison of virutal dj 7 for free (with out midi control) from there website
for the moment, are virtual dj and traktor my only options then?
They’re not your only options, but I think they’re your best options.
Actually, if I’m not mistaken you can use any of the software options out there w/ a laptop only, but you’ll need at least an external soundcard if you want any more pop than ur laptop card can provide. My only question would be why would u want to forego the hardware?
Errr…you can use Traktor…with just a mouse…or the keyboard assigned functions.
With built in sound…
Just use Traktor and switch soundcard to the onboard in the preferences…plug your headphones into your laptop and go about your business.
ive used traktor for going on long drives with the mates, mapped left and right for cross fader left and right, up and down to browse, space to load onto stopped track, \ to toggle browser only, and keys for 6 cue points for decks a and b and play and sync for a and b with buttons to hold for killing bass mids and treble, seemed to work out pretty good and used a small usb dongle soundcard to output cause was a little clearer then the built in one ![]()
