Dj TechTools App!

Hi DjTechTools and community!
I decided to go ahead and create a DJ TechTools App for iDevices! It’s just a basic app linking to the RSS feed from the blog! It’ll allow all readers with an iDevice to access the latest blog posts from the TechTools site!
It will also allow readers to share these posts via Facebook, Twitter, and Email.

If Ean wants, I can integrate ads to help support the website!
By default the App will be free, unless DjTechtools Staff Decides otherwise..

Keep in mind, this is just a rough draft until it gets some full approval from Ean.. I think it’s pretty much set to be published..

I just need to create a developer account- which can be made with the credentials of TechTools or Ean Golden in order to send profits their way!
The Dev account costs $99 to create, but it is definitely worth being able to reach out to the TechTools audience in a mobile way!

I don’t think he is still working on it. He had a basic idea and wasn’t familiar with the skills needed or owned a mac to develop it (he approached me cause of this but i declined because i don’t have time to learn about it).

IMO the mobile version of the site does the trick pretty nicely, I’d be interested if the forums would be included (maybe read only 1st and add user login in and the ability to post in a later version).

Sign me for the beta team if you need people to test it.

Well there ya go. Needs more than just the RSS feed though, imo. The wordpress plug in for the site is pretty good.

I think the RSS feed serves the core purpose of the app- spread the new posts in a mobile fashion..

it just provides an easily accesible app instead of having to dig out a URL in the phone

…i also think that the mobile site is decent, but an app wouldn’t hurt - when people search for ‘DJ’ in the app store it could spark some interest from people who dont know about DJTT or those that dont visit frequently and want to keep up to date.

you said “free”…right?..either people will use it or people won’t…im sure lots of peeps will get it…then either delete it or use it…

i’d like to be able to download content so i dont have to have a connection to read an article…

Why only an iDevice version? I have a HTC Desire HD and it kicks the shit out of the iPhone. Also, Android phones are now leading the mobile market (cos they’re better than anything else!). From what I gather, a lot of the users on here use Android phones rather than iPhones.

An Android version of any app would be good rather than an iDevice-only version.

Saying that, I’ve a forum reader app which does the job ok for now and just have the DJTT site bookmarked on one of my homescreens.

Why would you need more than that?

I don’t get what the arsehole of developing an app would get you extra …

Tapatalk is for the forum, this app is for the blog.

i think this is a great idea. the GUI looks a lot better than the mobile site. overall, good work. any change on a ipad version? :smiley:

I think it would look cooler on the iPad, because i actually took the full high resolution banner from the top of the site. Obviously, the bigger the display, the bigger and better the top banner
