It can also output midi as well, don’t think the 800 can. If the fact that you’re getting a brand new item with a warranty and those features are worth the extra price to you then go for the 850.
REALLYYY can’t get used to the logarithmic fader curve eh
?
I do really like the 92. I really do. But I play so much on the DJM 900 that I’d like to just master the damn thing already. Can’t afford the 900 but I’d like to get something close in comparison. Don’t use Traktor enough to get a mixer built for it. Thus, this thread.
Well…you have 4 options. 750,800,850,900. If you don’t need dedicated filter knobs and want a new item then go with the 750. If you don’t mind used go with the 800. If you want the next best thing to the 900nxs get the 850.
DJM 850 has a very low latency 4 stereo in+out sound card rather than just Traktor certification. It also has an Isolator EQ option, different Color FX, and apparently overall sound quality is improved vs the 800.
Both have pretty similar MIDI functions, but you of course need a MIDI interface to use it on the 800 whereas the 850 sends MIDI through the USB port.
850 is beautiful I spin on my buddies nearly everyday. Close enough to the 900 minus the touchstrip and extra effects
Guess it’s worth the extra money then. I’ll look for an 850.
Sound quality of the 850/900 is far far superior. I had an 800… My 900 sounds 10 x better.
I’d take an 850 over an 800 any day ![]()
800 isn’t even a close comparison to the 850
I would never buy an 800. Really dislike the sound quality compared to other mixers in the same price range
DJM850 is overrated .. just man up and get used to the 92 ![]()
850 has the color beat effects and such, its a nice touch. Definitely a solid choice, way better then an 800 for sure. Unless the 800 is mint and way cheaper I would get an 850.
Fixed that for you.
Sort of truth in that… I find the 92 super over rated and quite annoying…
Headphone cue is retarded
The fader curve is pretty wack imo
The buttons are yuck
92 sounds really lovely, particularly with vinyl, on a proper club system though no doubt… but for home use, meh
IMO
You forgot that the EQ knobs are utterly ridiculous and stubby.
I had the DJM-850 and really loved it. Mainly the price. I got it when Guitar Center was running a big sale in addition to the $300 Pioneer rebate. I got it for $900 before taxes. ![]()
Anywho, it was a dope mixer… however whenever using the internal soundcard with Traktor, the audio would randomly drop out. It only did it every once in awhile at first, but it become more frequent. I don’t normally take my mixers out to the club… but every once in a blue moon I would if what the club had sucked.
There were 2 times when it crashed on me and that was more than enough while playing out. I returned the mixer and upgraded to the 900 nexus. Haven’t looked back since.
and ridiculously close together!
Nothing beats the analogue filters on the xone 92s. Until another brand brings out a solid analogue mixer with good filters it will be my number one
Fair enough the xone 92 filters are lush. I can’t really argue with the sound quality, defo has a lovely warm flavour…
I just dont 100% get Allen and Heath’s vibe anymore… I dont think they’ve really nailed it with the DB series… no one is installing them in clubs and loads of clubs used to instal 92s over pio mixers.
I just think there needs to be something in between a xone 92 and a db2. The DB4 just looks like off putting over kill but the db2 is niggly annoying what it’s missing.
I want to want a xone mixer but the annoying niggles mean i have to go pio
