DN MC-6000 - Has anyone tried it?

I’ve seen lots of comparisons between it and the S4, but I can’t find any video online that demonstrates the MC6 by Denon…

Has anyone tried this thing out at perhaps BPM 2010?

And if not, what are your takes on S4 vs. MC-6000 taking into regards that timecoding is not too important too me.

And… what difference does it make in mixer quality that the MC is an analog mixer?
And one last question, is the layout on the MC6 good?
JK, one more…doe the plastic component’s of the S4 feel cheap or do they feel quite solid?

I have heard that its not very tactically laid out and that it isn’t as good as the S4, but that by no means is from first hand experience.

Silvio whats the output difference, if any, between the master XLRs and the 1.4" booth?
Say i dont have XLRs but still dont want to use RCAs, is it possible to get the same level of output from the Booth channel?

Master Output includes, XLR and RCA
Booth Output includes, TRS (balanced) and you can select which CH to output (as if it was a another Headphone Cue)

firstly… did you get my video clip on the SC-2000?

secondly… i have a mate who wants to buy an MC-6000, he does a radio show in the UK. He uses VDJ Pro 7, he has a question …

How can you record the mix (including microphone) with resorting to extra software and cables, he wants to use the loopback feature now built into VDJ7.

I quote him
"BTW need your help if you have the contacts… the MC-6000 manual (page 18) is confusing. From the look of it, the only channels you can pass back to VDJ via the USB sound card is the USB channels and there is no simple “master in” if you know what I mean.

You look at the two modes the manual says you can configure them as… well it’s bizarre.

Now considering I have my weekly radio show, I was hoping that I could use the MC6000 the same way as I use my VMS4 - using the Record Loopback input in to VDJ from the aggregated output.

I really don’t want to have a lead from the record out of the MC-6000 to the mic in on my lappy just to broadcast/record…"

Oh i get that, what I was wondering was the signal quality/strength coming out of the booth’s 1/4" vs. the masters.

Say i only have 1/4" cables, can i select the master channel on the booth send and still get the same audio quality and strength that i would from the regular master outputs?

You should get the same quality from the booth out since it’s balanced TRS.

Thats correct, +4dB for balanced Booth & Master outputs.

Love that new Denon kit! I have some major rearrangement of my studio to do but I will try to post a video soon. Ok my first impressions… Let me start by saying this unit is SOLID. I’m not kidding, the build quality is absolutely fantastic! Every knob and slider feels just right. I was a bit worried about the jogs but they also feel rock solid. I have a lot of Denon gear 2x DN-S1200s 2 DN-S700s and 2 DN-X120s, to name a few pieces. I have to admit it but the build quality of the DN-MC6000 is even better than those already solid pieces of gear. Amazing!

The layout of the controls seems very logical and now that I am looking at it in person I think the claims of it being cluttered are way overblown. This thing is clearly meant to be played. Now this bad boy is a bit heavy so I am not sure that carrying this around in a larger bag is going to work. I think a flight case is going to be essential when transporting the controller. A nice touch is that they included rack ears.

I’ll have some more information soon.

not that i can scratch but there is no lag or anything
its just perfect. the only difference to a turntable is the size of the wheel
i saw the s4 and tried it out but this denon device is build like a tank
no doubt about it, the knobs the sound the buttons
everything!

there is two aux ins
and two phono ins that can be switched to phono or normal
and two mic inputs that are used over the master audio i think that u cant asign them to a channel in traktor
but u can use the other channels

I have both the S4 and the MC-6000. i cant say which i do prefer right now but i can say that the pitch faders are in an awkard place for me in the MC-6000. For those who just want 4 deck mixing there both a good choice. But Denon made the MC geared towards 2 thing a real analog mixer and digital controller a very good combo. The S4 is first a controller, thats how its marketed.

I like the Jog better on the S4 because of the weighted feel to it.

I did some fooling around with the S4 software to the MC-6000 and got 3 player decks and a sample deck..

does anyone know perhaps why this unit isnt sold in guitar center or on amazon?
