Hi i was curious to know if anyone knows whether Armin Van Burren knows to play the keyboard. I am learning music production and want to learn the keyboard to to get better at making music. So i was very curious to know whether a top DJ/Producer like Armin would know to play the keyboard…So please let me know…
Correction: Do Armin Van Burren’s ghost producers know how to play the keyboard? The answer is most surely yes.
HOWEVER, the best advice I can give you is just to simply find some better producers/DJs to look up to. Armin and those other huge megastar DJs, as successful as they are, sold out their musical integrity ages ago. They will shamelessly put out cookie cutter risk-less garbage now just to stay at the top of the charts.
Unless you’re 16 and just in this scene for the bitches and partying, in which case… keep doing whatever you guys do… I guess.
Anyways, there are a lot of famous producers that don’t know much about music theory or “how to play piano”. I’m sure after years of producing you kind of learn with experience and practice. Knowing music theory is more useful than knowing how to read music notes and playing piano.
I’m not jealous, I just personally believe there’s a lot better role models out there if he’s truly into the music and not just in it for the party scene. Even within the trance genre…
Not everybody is in it to get headliner famous pumping out music for the lowest common denominator, some people would rather see the furthering of their genre of choice.
I can’t say for sure whether he knows how to play the keyboard or not, but what I can tell you OP as someone who obviously looks up to him…he’s a big wig now and as a big wig he likely has “ghost producers” that make a lot of the music he puts his name on. (before he became the superstar he is, he likely had to do most of the work himself so I’m guessing he knows more than a bit about the keyboard) If you want to strive to be like him, you need to make your name in the industry and the best way to do that would be to learn to play the keyboard because you’re not going to be a big superstar that can have ghost producer willing to write music for you.
Learning the keyboard and the theory behind music will be hugely beneficial for you when making music.
He can’t be that bad of a role model lol He’s been voted #1 DJ 3 times in the last 5 years, and from his videos and stuff, he seems like a pretty good guy lol
^^ i don’t trust any of those lists to be honest. i just use them so see if there’s anyone out there making waves i haven’t heard of. especially with the resident advisor list.
i heard armin is a classically trained musician and i’ve heard he’s a lawyer. can’t really confirm either. but i’ll see if i can find anything.
Yes, he went to law school, and even graduated I believe! I’ve heard an interview with him. He joked about practicing law if this whole music thing didn’t work out for him. He actually seems like a very cool guy that’s quite passionate about music.
Whether he’s classically trained as a musician or not I have no idea.
