Download links for mixes are becoming more and more frowned upon in the Mixcloud community, their music rights licence only allows them to stream users content.
If I was to make the content downloadable I would need to get each individual artists permission before I do so . .
Yep, mixcloud and the copyright mafiaa suck alright. I believe I will stick with the status quo of the last 30 years, where one can distribute DJ Mixes non-commercially for “promotional purposes” and nobody cares at all. I want to listen to mixes in my car via my own, website independent streaming solution (subsonic) and am frankly quite unconcerned with what mixcloud’s lawyers think about it.
If they suddenly made it impossible to listen to unlicensed DJ mixes in this way (yeah, right) then I would… just stop listening to DJ mixes. The greatest danger to any underground musician who produce music SPECIFICALLY FOR DJs is that other DJs don’t hear their music at all. The mafiaa mindset makes even less sense in this case than it does in the major label realm.
The transition to digital should not make things LESS free than they were when you had to pay a bunch of money and time to put your DJ mix on Maxell XL-II tapes. This iTunes-inspired paradigm where you pay more and get less.. not working for me. I guess I’ll go listen to someone’s elses mix, lol. Cheers!
Listened to the entire thing for the entire 45 min i was listen i was rockin out good shit man. Only one noticable alright transition that was at about the 10 minute mark! Over satisfied and completely enjoyed it. Wheres the DL link i want this on my ipod and those first 6 tracks are fucking delicious!! Would love to hear your feedback on my 30 min dnb drumstep minimix!!
