Faq List

Faq List

I want to make a list of all of the common topics that many new controllerist ask. If yall could help me out that would be great!

What i need is the question(s) and a link to the appropriate answer

Example : What is harmonic mixing?

I might need some help organizing this too…but ill start it off.

General Djing:
Harmonic Mixing - http://www.mixshare.com/software.html
Harmonic mixing is another style of Djing where you take a look at the Key of a song and blend your songs together that way. There are programs that will tag your comment section in your mp3. Check out Rapid Evolutioin (free) @ http://www.mixshare.com/software.html or Mixed in Key http://www.mixedinkey.com/

Organizing your music Collection:

Dj Notation

MP3 ID3 Tag programs -
Personally i use a program called Mp3tag (download.com link)

Traktor -
Studdering with traktor

VCI-100 -

For support on the VCI-100 SE(aka firm ware 1.3) - DJ TechTools Forums

Other Controllers -

Keep in mind that I don’t think this site should provide FAQ or anything for general DJ stuff (like harmonic mixing, manual beatmatching, levels, etc.). I think we should focus on the digital aspects of DJing (MIDI, routing, how audio interfaces work, etc.).

I can’t get links and everything together right now, but I think some things to look at are

How to set up a tks
How to edit a tks
What is Latency?

gotta run, more to follow tomorrow after I have some time to think about what silly questions I’ve been asked a lot

good looks,

Ill work on it more this weekend

whats a midi controller??
how to set the latency?
can i use(name of midicontroller)with traktor?
whats key lock ??
how i prelisten to the song before i played??
can i use mixed in key with WAV files??

i dont kno what else to put lol welll i trryyyyyyyyyyy:smiley:

Alright, some things I’ve seen and heard.

What can MIDI do (and, by proxy NOT do)? (A sort of MIDI 101 thing, quick and easy)
Why do I need a manual (aka How to save everyone time and frustration)?

In the FAQ we can link to topics i think that is the best way of doing things, we can cover a number of different aspects of djing without the FAQ itself being huuuge.

Using this technique anyone can easily add to any section to help make it more informative.
