Finding The Latest Releases?

Finding The Latest Releases?

First of all, I’m very sorry if there’s already a thread about this, i don’t know, if it’s just me being too idiotic at using the search function, to find anything about this..

I primarily mix electro house and I know that a lot of you, will think of me as a 16 year old kid, who doesn’t know a thing about dj’ing because of that, but I do, it’s just my favorite genre

So, which blogs, youtube channels (promotional channels and official label channels), soundcloud profiles, websites, etc., do you use to find the latest releases?

I mainly use youtube, where I have a subscribtion collection, which i check every day. From time to time i also check out the beatport top 100’s.

Beatport, Soundcloud,Youtube,Spotify the list goes on and on and on.

Subscriptions on YouTube are a great start! Also subscribe to your favorite labels and artists on Soundcloud.

The big one is Record Pools like DJ City for a paid one, or Your Army where you have to apply to join but its all free.

I’d also suggest listening to your favorite DJs and checking out what tracks they are playing. The bigger DJs tend to play alot of tracks that aren’t released (yet)…

Thanks for all of your answers!

I use spotify for new music discovery, then a record pool for downloading

Use the Hype Machine to get the latest blogged about tracks. You can also use it to subscribe to blogs just posting the type of music you like to create your own feed. That’s probably my favorite source!

+1 for Spotify

Other areas for music

Just saw a dude post about ‘satelliteedm.com’ which is nice and different from beatport or juno or spotify or any others. Layed out different too. I used to buy vinyl from them a long time ago.

I listen to my faves and usually have 1 or 2 from each of them jump at me. Whatever moves you will move others. I love the UK dudes like judge jules, pete tong, and the MOS sets. Love them! Have fun listening..

find artists you like and the labels that put their stuff out.

research said labels for similar sounds.

How do you use Spotify? Just browsing the top tracks or? I haven’t really used Spotify that much

I have never really tried hype machine, but I will definitely try it out now! Thanks

Can’t suggest anything that hasn’t already been said, but here’s some tips anyway..Beatport is good for a lot more than the top 100. It’s pricy, so don’t buy old music on it, just exclusives and new stuff, but it’s definitely a great place to start finding new music because if you like a track or label you can just check out the recommended section and find a ton of other labels and artists that are similar. You can then follow those artists or labels with mybeatport and it will keep you up to date on their releases.

Follow a ton of podcasts. They are mixed by professionals who know how to put together a set with the best new cuts and remixes, and typically feature upcoming releases that get you stoked!

Also, follow your artists on Facebook, twitter, and Soundcloud, as they are the most intimate, and news about upcoming releases tend to get posted there first. After a while Facebook and Soundcloud will start recommending you like new artists based on your interests, I can’t tell you how many new artists i’ve stumbled across this way.

Spotify for stuff that has been released, soundcloud for the new bootlegs, and i also get alot of submissions. All you gotta do is get chummy with producer and labels and they will just send you new stuff.

Personally I don’t really care about “latest release”, when I search for music I go for tracks that pull my attention.

If I find a producer I enjoy, I will go down the chain and search his tracks and remixes he has done. Along the way you will find people who have done remixes of their tracks & if I like what I hear.. I dig.

Theres always lots of digging to finding “fresh” music for your library. Personally I love the old school electro 2000-2009 stuff.
