Song doesn’t exist.
Post these in the mixes forum from now on. Also, don’t do this post and request feedback publically and take it back down right away. Upload it to a private track, and use that link. That way it wont be on your feed since it’s not finished.
I’ll be glad to have a listen but I got nothing to work with right now.
Here’s the finished product! Thanks for the comment, it was a mistake.
Finished Latch Remix! Need Opinions!
Here’s my remix of Disclosure’s Latch I would love your comments, either leave them here or on SC. Thanks guys ![]()
Unless you have clearance you better be careful because last summer I had my remix of Latch taken down off Soundcloud a couple of weeks after I uploaded it. It passed all the initial track screenings, but I believe someone from PMR pulled it simply because they were looking for tracks labeled Disclosure - Latch (remix or otherwise.)
My approach to the track was to transition from 4/4 to 6/8, and I admit I kept a lot of the original. Since you did your entire rhythm track in 4/4 I would have been happier if you had warped the ACAP from 6/8 to 4/4 also. To these ears it clashes too much.
Did not find it overly impressive… All in all sounds mediocre it didn’t really ignite anything… I personally really enjoy the original and feel it needs more of a deeper profiler sound to make this track work in the 124-128bpm range
Post in the correct forum as was the first response to your request (in another thread) for comments would be the first advice I have for you.
To me the tempo of this is ok because it’s all in straight 8ths. The reason the original had to be at 122 was because of all those triplet figures throughout the track.
But it was those triplet synth lines in the hook that made the track work and gave it it’s signature sound. For those who aren’t involved in mainstream residencies, this track was huge last summer - #1 on the US Dance and Electronic charts. It was mandatory to put it in the mix back then.
And therein lied the problem. How do you smoothly get from 4/4 to 6/8? I tried a few house remixes and stay in 4/4 but they didn’t go over at all. My solution was to do a transition beat from 4/4 to the track’s time signature of 6/8 but keeping quarter notes at 122 BPM for a smooth mix. While I was at it, all those washy synth transitions and all the bridges went bye-bye.
I’d love to post a link to it but it was pulled from Soundcloud
It’s ok though. This track is way past pull date. I don’t think I’ve played Latch this year, and I’m mixing in clubs every week.
I liked most of it. It’s really chill, and definitely has a different flavor than the original. I would work on the intro. Things just didn’t quite mesh together as you were adding different elements.
I’ve heard a few remixes of this song and they all kinda sound the same. Over all, it sounded like the idea was there but it lacked a distinct sonic flavour.
im not sure if you wanted to give it that edm sound, but when i think of edm songs i think of 2k+ sounds to give listeners an easy cue that they should jump up and down, and within this one there wasn’t really any of that. no tension, and no real release. maybe you can change up the syncopation of the chorus to give that effect without cheesing it up, or put on a slight delay on it to get the tension.
