FireStudio Mobile is said to have way better convertors, more dynamic range, etc. I am honestly not sure if its worth the $100 price difference though.
Yeah the difference for DJ purposes is zero really.
The FireStudio has more ins/out which dont really matter as the Firebox has all that you need.
The Firestudio Mobile has better Mic/Guitar XMA Class A microphone preamplifier inputs quality like the upper range rack mount Presonus FireStudio , which again from a purely DJ perspective arent needed or will ever be used.
If your a DJ / Producer / Guitarist etc then the Fire Studio Mobile is a great unit and will be awesome. If your just using the soundcard for DJing the Firebox is awesome and plenty .
If my Firebox broke id buy another. The FireStudio is $100 more than the Firebox although i fear that many stores will be stocking the Studio and not the Firebox.
So in essence , be happy with your Firebox purchase you bought right.
[must say i do like the LED outputs on the Studio though]
Ok its me again!!! My firebox os connected to my laptop and I get a solid blue light on the front. Cue on the left and right deck are working but Im getting no audio to the speakers. They are connected to the main out on my Firebox, which goes into a Bose interface so the sound can be distributed to the sub and tweeter pair. The interface has a light on the front that changes to green when there is a signal present. I guess so far there is no signal on the output side. So Im wondering if there is a setup connection in Traktor Pro thats not set properly. My audio setup is set to Presonus. Output Routing: Mixer is set to internal, output monitor is set to Presonus 0 and 1. Output Master is 2 and 3. Input Routing: Input channel A is 0 and 1 and Input Routing channel B is 2 and 3. That is my configuration, and so far not good enough.
Im missing something. ON my Bose system, the interface turns itself on and send the signal to the powered sub which send the highs to the tweeters. It will not turn itself on unless it detects a signal which apparently its not.
you sure you have the right settings in the Firebox Mixer application?
tell me you checked the Firebox Mixer app.
wooohoooo I got it working. My only issue is the sound is not very loud at all. Almost like being in a hospital zone. Anyway to boost the preamp signal?
turn up the main volume in traktor? or the main knob on the box?
I never touched the firebox mixer
main level on the firebox is up all the way and when I turn up the gain to 100% thats when I get distortion so I back it down to about 60%, the sound is not loud at all. There is no master volume on the VCI
I love threads that start with “Firebox”.
…mmm, redheads.
I can turn my Firebox up FULL with zero distortion.
There is a Master Volume on the VCI or if your TSI doesnt have one you can create one that controls the master Output on Traktor.
sorry there is a master output on the VCI. I thought that had something to do with the cueing, but I was wrong.
Not trying to hijack thread but it’s related. Im getting a weird issue with this setting: MB, FireBox, Traktor pro 1.1.2, vci-100. Im always getting sound from master and monitor. Even pressing CUE the thing just plays the music everywhere. I kinda got it to work once but it’s getting funny again. Tried fiddleing with the thing and the knobs but is not definetly doing what is supposed to. Any ideas?
Yup. you need to start up the Presonus Firebox Mixer and that should route the correct Outputs for CUE to work.
I start Traktor then i hit an alias on my desktop that starts the Mixer then i go into Prefs and change the soundcard to Firebox (this is because i do my prep with the onboard soundcard and when i restart Traktor at my gig it is set to Internal).
That should fix your cue issues.

Question..If you were to use your “main outputs” on your firebox along with your other two outputs, Could you control 3 decks externally??? Please tell me you can?
My guess would be that you could but you would have to adjust the main outputs with the main knob in front of the unit so the volume levels are the same???
Havent tried it but my guess is that it would work.
Ive used the FireBox with external mixing in traktor using outputs 3&4 and 5&6 for 2 decks.
I see no reason that you couldnt also use outputs 1&2 for a 3rd deck and even outputs 6&7 which is the headphone as a 4th deck.
The Firebox Software Mixer gives you total control over all the channels individual volumes.
I could try it out if you like??? Would be tomoro before i get back into my studio (hah bedroom) but ill rig it up if you want a definitive answer ?

Yah man I would appreciate it.
If you could also let me know the proper outputs to assign the mixer app when you do it, It would be a great help as well. Stuff like that tends to muck me up sometimes! I just ordered a 3 channel mixer and a firebox for the sake that I could mix externally on all three channels. I should recieve my mixer by the end of the week but my firebox wont be here for awhile. I might rent a firebox for the time being at my next gig just so I can get used to it.
No probs man. Will do it tomorrow. The Firebox is the best soundcard ive ever used…period.
also, karlos, if its not too much of a hassle, could you double check that its actually possible to run a separate external channel through the headphone output, to give you a total of 4 external channels. ive heard that it may be possible, but would just like someone to actually confirm this before i reach into the wallet to purchase one. it would be a possible make or break for me personally. thanks id really appreciate it.
Yeah no sweat. In theory it should work but ill find out for sure tomorrow unless someone else does it today, i know theres a few Firebox owners on here.
i can confirm it works for 3 decks, and 4 decks if u use the headphone jack. Routing works perfect, i agree with karlos great card…im keeping mine even though i have serato.
