FL Studio or Ableton; mix creation?
I’m not doing 100% production yet, but I am perfecting my mixes via FL Studio. Are there features in Ableton which would make my life way better for production or is FL studio fine? The question is, is preference really the issue or is it performance. Can FL do everything Ableton can in terms of production? Thank you.
Ableton have live in its name for a reason, that being said dont mix in a production program..
FL is great for starting your idea’s cause it’s that chilled. But personally I prefer Ableton for the end product, it just feels and sounds a lot better. But then again once you get used to any DAW your ideas jump into your DAW as quick as they would with FL
It really is preference. You can find examples of top producers who use both Ableton and FL. My advice is to just pick one you feel comfortable with and stick to it. Do the required reading/watching tutorials, but try not to jump ship unless you really can’t stand it. If you do, then it just becomes a colossal waste of time.
yea i know, that’s what im afraid of. getting somewhat far into FL and then needing to jump ship but apparently I’m fine. I just found out that one of my favorite trap producers, Ookay, using FL for production, so he has encouraged me to stay.
Side note: for the FL advocates in the room, I am having an issue with mp3 export quality. I don’t know very much about the ASIO settings yet, I do not think I have everything right. I have a song that sounds perfect when played in FL, but the exported mp3 sounds noticeably less clean. Comments? The only mods to exporting were 320 bit rate (i know im missing things). Thanks!
