From Pro to Scratch Pro

From Pro to Scratch Pro

Right now I own Traktor Pro and have it registered. I am think about buying a used copy of Traktor 3 scratch and then upgrading it to Scratch Pro.
How would that turn out? I guess I would end up with a copy of both Traktor Pro and Traktor Scratch Pro on my computer or what?

Any recomendations?

Do you have the Audio8?

Traktor Pro and Traktor Scratch Pro run out of the same executeable, so you’ll end up with a TSP only (assuming you don’t install the T3 you’re planning to get as well ). Again, it all comes down to if you have the HW for it (A8DJ or a “certified” mixer).
Personally, I went the Traktor Pro upgrade route, which got me the A8DJ, the timecode vinyl and the cable where you’re always short of enough mixer segments  Minus some small quirks on the A8DJ (headphone connection shaky, rca connection to deep in the casing for some larger cables, slightly inferior sound to my previous Edirol), it’s a pretty good and satisfying package

I do not have any of the hardware. I just figured that it was cheaper to by a used Traktor 3 scratch, and use the hardware from that set, and then upgrade my Traktor Pro to Scratch.

It might easier to get a used Audio8 and just upgrade directly. The upgrade to Traktor Scratch requires the Audio8DJ, though now you might be able to do it with the Audio4.

If your getting a good bargain on the Traktor Scratch package (inc Audio 8,timecode,mulitcores) then thats a good cheap way of upgrading to TSP.
How much are you paying for that package.

Krome is correct you cant have 2 versions of the current Traktor on one machine IE: TP and TSP.

[MASSIVE EDIT]

Scrap what i just wrote. Ive got a better solution.

Keep Traktor Pro exactly the way it is.

Install Traktor Scratch. Register it and activate it in Service Center.

Then in Service Center enter the new TSP Serial Number that you will recieve with your TSP download where your old Traktor Pro Serial Number is and it will change your Traktor Pro to Traktor Scratch Pro.

Everything will be the same as before. You will have TSP with all your collection and tsi and settings in tact.

I new there was a better way.

Phew…!

Ok Karlos, so you suggest that I buy the old TS, install it and the buy a “software only” upgrade from TP to TSP?

Why not just do as Devils suggesting, buying the Audio 8 and then the upgrade from TP to TSP?

there is no software only upgrade from traktor pro to scratch pro

if there is can someone show me it?

I thought you could only do a certified mixer upgrade which is still about 300 euros :disappointed: I’m sure this is a bit steep just to switch timecode on and get timecode vinyl etc ..

Gav

Oh so the software upgrade is only from TS to TSP and not TP to TSP. I see.

thinkso … may be wrong.

But i made the mistake of buying a cheap audio 8 and timecode seperately thinking i could upgrade from the demo version at some point and do it all gradually meaning less of an all at once outgoing !

Couldnt believe it when i found that you couldnt do a software only upgrade from le or Pro basically i have to but timecode etc all again with a certified mixer package which is 300euros i think.

Scandelous

LE - Pro is 99Euros i think
Pro - Scratch Pro 300 euros (just to turn on timecode) :disappointed:

Cant afford it at all at the min :disappointed:

Expensive hobby this djin malarkey when your not doing it to make money !

The upgrade from scratch to scratch pro = €79 if i am not mistaking.
(i have the same issue going on … i’m looking for a cheap traktor scratch package too hehe)

A few weeks ago I takled with NI service center and below is their reply:

You wrote:> This means I must pay €79 to upgrade SCratch to scratch Pro.> > Am I right?

Yes, you’re right. The TRAKTOR SCRATCH PRO SOFTWARE UPGRADE is €79.

I dont have scratch at the min just, LE and a scratch pro demo.

Yeah im not suggesting you do it. I just presumed you had found a TS package for cheap.
I figured you were doing what Tomek is doing.

Its all about the maths. Upgrading from TP to TSP can be costly.

If you can find a used TS (old scratch) you can then upgrade to TSP with the Upgrade Download .

Whatever route is the cheapest is the best. You can always sell your original TP if you buy TSP as you will get a new registration number for TSP.

Its all confusing i know but …

[oh just for clarification the 79euro upgrade from TS to TSP is because you are already own all the hardware and DVS . You are paying for Traktor Pro software]

seen as all hardware is available sepearately why do they not do this option for others then. If that was the reason then i would only have to pay 79euros.

I agree with you 100%. They should , but they dont.

If you add up the cost of all the hardware (inc muliticores) and the software the price is comparable to buying a Package.

This however does not help guys like you who (i think) is a student and could better afford it by building the package over a period of time. This is where it becomes obvious that NI is a profit making company like all others.

The big issue is that NI do not sell the DVS Plugin on its own.
Say you had already got Traktor Pro and you bought all the hardware parts the only thing missing is the DVS functionality. It would be great if NI just sold that. They dont.
Even if they did it wouldnt be cheap.

Which ever way you slice it, it comes to pretty much the same price however you buy it unless you can get a really good deal on the old Traktor Scratch package second hand.

All you really need is a receipt showing you purchased Traktor Scratch last fall, and you can still get the upgrade for free. Just don’t be like me and lose the damn receipt.

Well if you had TS already theres no problem. Or do you mean a fake reciept.
Where you gonna get a reciept from ? If you didnt buy it within or before the ‘Grace Period’.

Any shop giving out fake receipts would mess its own books up.

Also you need to have TS registered already for the TSP registration to work. The TSP registration is dependent on TS registration and activated.

So now I just need one more tip. I just bought a brand new TSP (the full package). I already have TP installed. What is the easiest way to do the upgrade? I dont want to have to import my collection and set cuepoints etc. again.

Thanks guys!

Open the Service Center, Overview, Show Details of Traktor installation and click Edit next to the serial number. Enter your TSP serial number. After restarting Traktor you should have Traktor Scratch Pro

That sounds very nice and easy! Thanks!
