So according to him the top end mass produced mixers regardless of brand suck. Nice.
Yeah those audiophiles are sometimes a bit crazy. I mean, his suggestion that using 24-bit/96kHz audio would be adequate is lol too
But those Funktion 1 systems are amazing. Cielo in NYC has one, the sound is absolutely clean. They certainly don’t have a mass produced mixer in the booth but I don’t think that’s why their system sounds so good
Someone posted on here recently saying they had a gig at a club with a Funktion One system I think.
Smart Bar has one, and I’ve had the privilege of being able to open there with a friend of mine.

Friends of mine frequent the Berghain during summer. One of them will be in Berlin for a few months this summer too.
They do love the sets being played there, though I can find myself in the words of them not being to fond of people bearbacking to the left of the stage.
The club where I work at the bar has one of those. Awesome. In the next few months I will hopefully be able to play there once. Hopefully.
The sound at Berghain really opened my eyes (ears) for minimal techno. Both the music played and the quality of the sound system.

Tony Andrews on Funktion One: Going too far?
Digital DJ Tips just favourited this video, Funktion One founder Tony Andrews talking about their stuff and music quality in general. Found it interesting and I thought I’d share, I also put a poll on cos I love them
What do you think? He has some interesting things to say, and to give him respect I must say I do love funktion one sound systems. There’s a club here in barcelona called Macarena with a massive one in a really tiny space, and the quality’s outstanding.
That said, I personally think he’s going too far by saying that mp3s are toys and are killing music appreciation. For me, a 320 is just fine. How many people really go to a club expecting to have studio quality audio?

I put 256, but I’ll often buy 192k stuff since my show is broadcast at 192k.

Meh i usually use 256 but does your standard punter really notice the difference between 320kps and anything below??
well when you say ‘anything below’, do you mean as far as 128? cos 128 can sound reeeeeally shit on a good sound system.
