i am thinking of ways that me and my mate can dj together. I have read all the threads about syncing 2 computers together.
We both only mix on 2 decks so wouldnt a very easy/ghetto was of mixing be to use 1 traktor running 4 decks he uses 2 and i use 2.
If i cloned the screens so we both had a screen to look at each, me laptop screen him desktop screen would this work.
I have a VCI 100 and he has a bcd 2000 there shouldnt be a problem with midi signals crossing over should there. Sorry if its a bit of a rant just thinking out loud.
Hi mate. Having two decks each, say you with your VCI using A/B, and your mate the behringer using C/D would work fine. we do a similar thing on occasion actually. The only thing is you would have to map the BCD to only control C/D if you were going to do something like that.
But if you are using the same traktor then you could just map both controllers to run all four decks and just go crazy.
probally be worth setting the two controllers to different input channels aswell?
i’d imagine to clone the screens would be simple enough, just plug in a monitor to the laptop and set the display to clone rather than stretch the desktop. not sure what effect this would have on the graphics card though (as it’s cloning the graphics onto another screen), and subsequently the performance of the system as a whole, can’t see it being a massive effect. but only one way to find out…

Actually, hipnotikk’s got a point. You can’t be searching through the same collection in two different directions. You’d need to do it one at a time.
You can get around the x-fader by using only volume faders, but it’s not as much fun.
[/quote]I read as ‘loading tracks into decks’, which can be handled easily thru midi.
there would be a few hick ups but if only 1 person uses the cross fader and if you tap each others shoulder when you want to search could work.
I tried looking to sync through midi but looking at threads it is quite hard to sync 2 computers together with traktor pro 1.1
if anyone has a better idea let me know
I still think the best way to do this is to just do it by ear. It isn’t that terribly hard if you use the internal clock, and you each and have the full functionality of Traktor. I mean, if you’re spinning together there probably aren’t going to be any drastic tempo changes, so with a little monitor to clear up the little differences you could easily just sync the master clocks to the same tempo on each computer individually and go.
setup a network with two laptops and do a master midi clock on one of them… ritchie hawtin goes a little into this but im sure you can find a tutorial like this somewhere, i think that would be the best way to do it.
