Going CDJs

Going CDJs

So currently I have traktor pro 2, denon dn-x1600 and a X1. Thinking about going CDJ route, due to missing the whole feel for tracks, cant stand looking at waveforms anymore. Found a set of pioneer CDJ 800s mk2 for $600, or should I save more and get the 850s due to USB and rekordbox ?
Thanks

If you want to keep using Traktor as a medium for which you can control your tracks, so that you don’t have to burn a ton of mp3 CDs and such, then definitely save up for the 850s; could use traktor as an FX processor in that situation at least. You could try and see if you purchase a Scratch update code from someone, allowing you to use control CDs with the 800s, saving you a few hundred dollars. Since you have the DN-X1600, having your decks as controllers isn’t required that much since you can control almost all the features with the mixer and track selection can be done via timecode.

i dont want use traktor, i think i just want to do cdjs alone. the software is taking away from me actually paying attention to the songs, i tend to lose patience and mix to fast, or dont let song play longer than 1-2 minutes. i have denon dn-s5000 cdjs , but the club im looking to play at has cdj 800s, just want get comfortable with pioneer, as the denon has a different workflow

CDJ 850 might be the best bet. Considering how CDs are probably on their way out and how much easier it is to use flash drives, its probably worth saving up. Not sure if there is a difference in quality though; might wanna see if there is any threads comparing the two.

sounds good, thanks for the input. as far as quality goes, it doesnt change at all. i guess ill save up for the 850s

No problem mate! And enjoy!

What a serendipitous encounter of epic proportions.

I am now your master

Yeah if you have the patience, cdj 850 or 900 are huge.

Decided to wait for CDJ 900s already have $200 in $1800 more to go, extra work will help

Pioneer is offering $200 rebate per deck on the 2000. www.proaudiostar.com sells them for 1650 out the door no tax… so $2900 after rebate.
