got 1210’s whats the cheapest way to get setup?

so i got an s4 after years of using 1210’s. all my mates have enjoyed using it, one of them is thinking of going digital. he’s got a decent laptop he’s got 2 1210’s whats the cheapest way he can get setup using the 1210’s with traktor.

i know NI have an offer on atm but i’m not sure what his best options are. i’m gessing he’d need the scratch version with a soundcard and midi mixer???

i’m still a bit new to this, his style of mixing is different to me. i like using the sample decks and fx, loops he likes manual beat matching and just mixing 2 songs. thats why i thought he might be better keeping his 1210’s than getting a controller.

Traktor Scratch Duo 2 should be what he’s looking for then

He got a mixer i presume?

He could get scratch pro duo 2 with audio 6 sound card. Simple 2 deck mixing but limited by duo software which has limitations (no advanced fx)

Or if he wants to go whole hog just get Scratch Pro 2 with Audio 10 sound card - then world is his oyster.

This is usefull: http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/products/dj/traktor-pro-2/?page=1991

nah the best option would be buying an audio 6, with the free pro 2 license he could upgrade to scratch pro 2 by buying the s4 scratch upgrade. which would come to around the same price as scratch duo.

thanks for the help especially that comparison chart! i think the scratch duo 2 would be ok for him. thats why i started this thread i was unsure of what the different versions of traktor do so that was a big help.

can he use any mixer with it? he’s got a vestax 05 pro think it’s the mk3

so basically he wants this?

will he need a new mixer?

No he can’t do an upgrade unless he already has software.

He wants this

awesome. i clicked the wrong link in the shopping results and didnt notice it was the upgrade kit

whats the crack with the mixer, i’m guessing he cant control traktor with it, he’d need a new one?

is no one gonna listen to me then?

The mixer he has will be fine, and he shouldnt buy traktor duo. read my previous post as to why.

he’s not got an s4, i did look mate. it says on the NI website it wont work without an s4?

"This upgrade only works for registered users of TRAKTOR KONTROL S4.
You won’t be able to install and activate this version unless you own one of the required products listed above!

Login to make sure this is the right version for you."

nah man, you dont need an s4.

rad to the power of sick

…i think thats what the kids say these days

If he really has no interest in using a controller then maybe Serato is for him.

i think the plan is to add an x1 or somthing later, for now he just wants to use his turntables. he does like my s4 but for now he just wants to get back in the swing of things and he’s got the turntables in the attic. all of our mate’s took a few years off with families and what not, i bought an s4 and its got them all into it agian lol

the other thing is at partys we can hook everything up together and everyones familiar with the software

Good point. I organise Parties for a bunch of mates (old ravers) and one setup with once piece of software certainly makes things easier.

The Audio 6 deal is this. It comes with LE and after you register that you get an email for an upgrade to the full version of traktor Pro.

So He would buy this sound card

and this upgrade

The straight Scratch Duo upgrade looks to be a little cheaper, but going the route of buying separate stuff gives him the full Scratch Pro 2. The only downside is he’ll have to wait a bit for upgrade emails to come in.

ms pinky …

you get a 25 euro voucher for the NI shop with the audio 6 aswell, so i think it works out pretty much the same

I’ve been thinking, I’ve got 1 of his turntables here at mine but there’s no room to use it properly plus he’s gonna want it back. I got the free s4 scratch upgrade so I might do the mate thing and if he gets the audio 6 and I deactivate my scratch I could give him the activation code, would that work?

I’m not using the turntables, I’m just happy getting my head round the s4 for the time being. If I add anything to my setup it will prob be another controller and it will save him some cash

You have the S4 scratch upgrade? If so yes you can unregister it through NI and give it to him.

Select registration data modification in the type of request drop down.

That’s the route I’m headed down, just waiting until I got enough cash for a soundcard.
