When i setup traktor s4 at the start i just pointed it to c/drive my music where i have all my different folders is this the correct way or should i move all my folders into the tracktor folder, sorry for all the noob questions guys bear with me.
so i cant either copy all my tunes/folders to the trakor folder thats been created in my music or just keep pointing traktor to my music, is one better than the other?
They way I do it is to use iTunes to organize my music. Then I go into the iTunes node in the Traktor explorer and select all of the tracks>right click>import to collection. This may take some time the first time. I think even if you put them in a separate music folder and not use iTunes you will still need to import them to the collection because this is what analyzes and sets the beatgrid if you have that option checked in preferences.
ok i,m following you, i dont use itunes so that a no go, do i do this importing to the traktor folder in my music folder thats been created but default when i installed it or does this get done in the traktor interface? And if this is the case and works where do i then point traktor? Not to my music c/drive?
ok guys just inside dragged all my music foler into traktor collection, in the traktor interface..but yes i can use the search facility GREAT, but it have split up my folders, so now i have just artists, genre etc, when i would really like my seperate folders ie funky, tech, techno to show up in the tracktor collection? maybe this should be done outside traktor but would thatnot create two files on hd thus taking up space, confused guys all i want is my folder tree in tracktor collection, oh and i managed to start a playlist…yesss…getting there
To start off and get set up you can go through the explorer node in the tree on the left and import your music folders as playlists. This will be a one time thing unless you create a new folder to organize music on your hard drive. These playlists will not automatically update so when you add new music you would need to add those songs to the playlist. To do this I would navigate to the folders you want the songs to stay in on your computer via the explorer node, right click those songs and click add to collection (this will not duplicate the song on your hard drive). Then go to the collection in Traktor and drag that song onto it’s correct playlist.
Wow thanks for the reply, thats seems pretty complicated and i dont like the way that traktor will not auto update the tracks, i think i’ll look for another way
