Help me to choose my setup : Xone 4D or Denon DN-X1700 + Kontrol X1

Hi,

I am in the process to change my setup. For the moment i work with Traktor Pro, one Native Instruments AudioKontrol, one Korg PadKontrol and one Vestax VCM-600.

I don’t use timecode, i mix only mp3 320 and what i want today is a true mixer.

I need help to choose what feets the best for my needs.

Both units have a soundcard, so no need of Audio8.

The Xone 4D is a analogic mixer with 2 midi units.
The DN-X1700 is a digital mixer with some midi controls, but with effects units, and must be used with one or two Kontrol X1.

I don’t know what to buy, price are almost the sames !

Well i have Xone 4D and I have to say it’s the best bit of kit i have, I run traktor and Ableton via it which is great, I do all my mixing via the 1D’s on top of this i think you will find that although part of it is anologue, that everything apart from the Xfader can be mapped as per this link http://www.xone.co.uk/tutorials/index.asp?id=13

I have only mapped the 1D parts of the mixer, but do intend to fully map the thing once i move house

the reason I purchased it was i intend to use DVS eventually so i can reintergrate my 1210’s and for that it’s perfect as well.

can’t comment on the other item as i don’t own one.

All depends on whether you plan on playing in clubs with it or not, as a lot of booths don’t have room to accommodate it.

I have a 4D and it’s great, but it can be a burden to take with you etc.

Yes i plan to play with it in club, but my main concern is the sound : analogic vs digital, 4D’s soundcard is 24 bit, X1700 is 32 bits.

Yes i solved the issue of playing in clubs i also own two 1D’s

I honestly doubt you will notice any difference in sound quality at all.

Analog and digital sound, at this point (and, well, for a LONG time) have been pretty practical. You’re going to be running it through the same equipment as everyone else in a club anyway.

So either one.
