HELP with hercules and mixxx

Hello someone, anyone, you, person, dude, chick, whatever. i have downloaded mixx and own a hercules mp3 e2. i have not been able to connect the two. when i go into settings, and select MIDI controllers, it does not show up. does the mp3 e2 not count as a midi coz it comes with its own software?

i have already posted this and was told i need to install drivers. WHAT :rage: DRIVERS??? i got my first gig on april 4 and i would like to use my mixxx because it is more powerful and virtual dj le crashes.

please, you are my only hope.

tips for reaktor 5 player would help as well, but those dont matter.

thanks!

it’s not a class compliant device so needs drivers from hercules to show up as a midi device: Hercules Dj Control Mp3 E2 · mixxxdj/mixxx Wiki · GitHub

the link to the hercules drivers page is on that webpage too. i remember i had to install some drivers when i was using my herc mk2.

How do people like mixx?

i haven’t played with it enough, but 1.10 looks pretty cool. i just like the effects in traktor i guess to move to an app now that doesn’t really have many. just adding a vst host might solve that tho or a bunch of virtual send/returns but that might get messy…

Well vsti effects are amazing and the amount of great free ones is the big thing

true… i’ve actually been hunting the interweb for free vst’s the last few days to use with my ableton live5. pretty cool how much is out there. if mixxx had a vst host and i could find some vst’s to replicate what i like in traktor and have them synched then it could be quite interesting. i think newer versions of mixxx can send out midi clock now anyway.

Dude. The second post was a link. With an explanation of WHY you needed drivers, and then a direct link TO the drivers. How much more did you need?

From the thread:

how to install em. i am such a fucking noob… sob sob

how to install em. i am such a fucking noob… sob sob

just a windows driver i presume… download and run :stuck_out_tongue:

thats what i did. then i rebooted my computer. but when i go into mixxx, it does not recognize any midi controllers.

what does the device show up as in your control panel? also if the e2 is like my mk2 then you have some kind of hercules panel app thing that gives u some options - that works ok?

edit: and the controller works ok with vdj le?

it works fine with vdj le.
i got a panel app, but it only changes jogwheel effects and stuff.
it said the driver is 5.5.5.0.

you seem to have answers. is there a chat on djtt?

no chat thing here and i don’t even use windows any more i’m afraid so i def don’t have all the answers. i’m strictly a mac+linux guy now - except for when i need to compile on windows or test websites in IE…

one thing that might help debug, if u grab this zip of my midimasher for windows http://midimasher.djism.com/downloads/midimasher-20120220-win.zip and double click on dump.exe (a simple midi dump tool). does your e2 show up as a midicontroller there? and if so if u select it and press some buttons does it dump the data?

if not then the hercules driver isn’t installed properly. if it is showing up ok then it’s a bigger issue in mixxx and i would then try an older version of mixxx or something.

just got it…
how does it work?

(btw… who the heck are you? do i know you?)

just dble click, press enter to not select a log file and it should list your devices. choose it if it shows up and press some keys. who am i? zestoi :stuck_out_tongue:

im sorry i am such a noob, but there are a sh*tload of files and which one do i pick?

lol i read ur full message… nevermind

it does not show up on that… now im really confused.

then there’s some issue with your driver not installed properly - as the e2 isn’t showing up a midi device at all. not sure what to say to debug it further really. i guess vdj is talking direct to the e2 via HID and not using midi. i guess it’s not showing up as a midi device in the windows control manager? if its an unknown device or something u could right click it and select update driver or something.
