I have an Apple USB 3 camera adapter hooked up to the Lightning port. I plugged a simple USB stereo sound device into the USB port on the Apple USB 3 adapter.
I open Djay Pro and I can hear the music clearly through the USB device.
I plug in a 3.5mm plug into the iPad headphone jack and Djay Pro kills the USB sound output. It only plays music through the iPad headphone jack and only when I click the CUE button.
But now I get no sound from the USB device.
Has anyone tried this and it worked?
I want to have two stereo outputs on Djay Pro so I can get true stereo output and cue monitoring.
Ugh. My gig is tonight. Back to the splitter cable. I use Spotify and iPad DJay Pro for warm up. Since I don’t want to buy all those tunes (some of them again), and I also use it for special requests. Then I switch to Wndows/Traktor/controller for main set. I would buy DJay for Mac, but I don’t buys Macs. And this post is exactly why I wouldn’t spend $2000 on a laptop when I have no issues with a $500 laptop.
No Worse than Traktor or Serato not allowing dual Soundcard support (without workarounds).
Guessing it was more of an oversight than anything else, DJ apps are the only type off the top of my head that would use the function anyhow and the reasoning (guessing) is probably power saving e.g. why power an external audio device at all when you already made your soundcard choice automatically by plugging headphones into the main port.
So I was mixing for 30 minutes and the audio started to wonk out.
The Zalman Audi interface would turn on and off and thus cut the audio. The main mix and the cue would drop out for 7 seconds and come back in. Then go out again.
Sounds like a power issue. I was running 100% battery at the time. So I restarted the iPad and plugged into AC power via the USB camera adapter lightning port.
I mixed again for 30 minutes with no issues. But I will continue to beta test it before I try it out in public.
I’m also going to try a powered USB hub thinking that maybe the Zalman is pulling too much from the iPad and the iOS is knocking it off.
