Oh, Jesus what did I start…well tell me what you guys thinks

im canadian and have never heard of “canadian disco” before… what’s this all about?!

JesC,
thanks for sharing your mix. D/L’ing it now. I grew up listening to this stuff, so your playlist brought a smile to my face.

duerr,
“Canadian disco” is a term for stuff, some produced in Canada, in the early/mid 80’s by groups like Lime and Tapps, and released on record labels like Power Records. In LA, it went by HiNRG, Italo/Euro disco, Canadian, and yes, Gay Disco (because many of the performers/producers were gay, many of these songs broke ground in the Gay Clubs in and around Hollywood/West Hollywood, because the DJ’s and clientele were more open to accepting new music) Many DJ’s in LA helped to popularize the genre. It even included some “new wave.” Regardless of where it came from, it really all amounts to the same thing.

It still sells, and there was even a series of CDs sold under Gay Disco titles.

Thanks again, JesC.

Hey no problem oquela you cover the genre in a nut shell. Ill be honest with you. I still rock this music every week when I play…it always get people moving. The only thing that does get to me is when other djs murder this music by mixing all weird and off beat. You have to respect the classics, I still get the chills when I bust out the vinyl and play it.

Woah dude, Dead or Alive’s on that, cool.
For me this almost always goes with King - Love & Pride.

Nice selection, will be d/ling it tomorrow @work!
