How do you remember tracks played with cds?

As the tittle asks, I’m transitioning to playing with cds (LOVING IT!) and I wanted to know how do you guys remember which tracks you have already played in a set!

I’m currently playing with a couple of Denon DNS 1000 that a friend gave me.

I want to know your tips and tricks!

I just remember what tracks I’ve played lol

pretty much.

i don’t think i’ve had problem with it even doing a 6hr sesh

you’ll know. If you don’t know the tracks you’ve played, then you don’t know your music well enough, or you have a crappy memory.

A stack?

this amazing piece of technology.

If you actually know your music then you won’t have a problem.

If you don’t know it, then learn it.

Pretty much what everyone is saying. Just practice and practice with the tracks you have, learn different track combinations and pay attention to your music.

The answer is to snap the CD once you’ve played it.

That’s how Chad jackson used to do it with vinyl…

By remembering what tracks I’ve already played.

i haven’t used this model but from what i’m reading there should be a history feature

1 track per cd… 2 piles of cds lol easy peasy thats how we did it before cdj’s could read mp3 and usb….

i do 1 track per cd too. its easier for me. I learned it in an Armin Van Buren video

Pretty much what Jester and Janky have suggested: write them down. I use Traktor and an X1, so what I do when practicing is create a TextEdit file of tracks that go well together and then organize them accordingly in a Traktor playlist later on. After practicing/gigging enough, you’ll remember clusters easily.

damn that would be like LOTS of cds

[/quote]is that the same video where he has this gigantic binder and the songs have keys on them too?

lol could be, i think it was the pioneer video. Also i do have alot cds with lots of tracks on them. But you just gotta remember what you played.

Usually if i have a “Set” planned then ill do the one song per cd thing, but if I am playing some kind of 5 hour free-form set then i have tons of loaded cds.

this is the key right here!
And to the OP, please dont take offence
we all know there are ways of downloading TONS of tracks a day
You dont need to do that. Just download what you like and dont waste time with the rest
That way you wont have to memorize 1000 tracks (how long is it goingto take you to get through all of them anyway?)

Instead all youll remember is 100, which is actually a decent amount of music to attain per week.
Think about it
4 days of 25 song downloads is a lot
then take a break for 3 days, listening to your new music.

I think you are in overkill mode mate

I think even less man, crunch in 2 days of digging and 2 or 3 days to listen
