How do you store your samples?
I’ve had my MBP for about a month now and have already used over half my HDD storage. A bit of further investigation shows that a lot of this is samples, loops and the like I use for production. I’m in the middle of a spring clean and trying to arrange my files in some sort of logical order but can’t figure out a good way of doing it!
So my question is… how do the patrons at DJTT organise all their samples and how much is considered too much?
now thats something i was thinking off last night too many samples here and there … thanks goes to traktor for making it easier than ever to cut and save loops
sorting them in folders would be easy u just need to organise it depending on what you have what you need and how you want it to show up
personally i was thinking of having to main folders one for loops and one for single shots single shots to be sorted by instrument and loops to be sorted by style dont go into too many subfolders and details that would stress you and make it harder to find a sample
and use instead smart playlists
this was my 2 cents hoping to hear others organizing methods
It’s not that hard, I just keep it in it’s original folder hierarchy when I download them, eventually you’ll start to learn them depending on who you’re buying from be it Loopmasters, SoundsToSample, Zenhieser and so on.
Also, you can never have too much I’d say, as long as you know you’re loop/sample packs and keep them organized it should be easy to find what you’re looking for.
i found that using the above mentioned method and tagging the sound producer like loopmasters etc in the comments help alot too and smart playlisting just gave me too many possibilties in an organized way since i use itunes only to organize my djing mp3’s and loops and not my music collection.
hope you have found a way that suites u best !
