How to Sync 2 S4s and 2 Laptops?

Hey friends,

I’ve searched several forums but haven’t found anything yet. I’m trying to sync 2 S4s with MIDI cable but also have 2 separate laptops, one for each S4. Can someone point me in the right direction?

i suggest you search the forums and/or youtube mate, theres tons of info about this

unfortunatly this is only possible with S4’s

You can use them both on one laptop, i’m making such a mapping right now so if your intrested?

So u can’t have two laptops with two S4s? I’ve seen videos of this done but haven’t found instructions on how to do it yet.

sorry i tought it said S2 :S, yes with 2 S4 it’s possible, something with the midi-clock i think.

So we tried and tried and could not get them to sync (followed the steps in the article above). Any other suggestions?

You could do it if you have two external soundcards with midi in/out like Chriswoods suggested. Otherwise I’m pretty sure you could do it over ethernet as well - look into it and let us know :slight_smile:

you shouldnt need two external soundcards as the s4 has midi in and out. you may need a wee two channel mixer or an audio combiner though to get both outputs onto one master mix. unless one s4 drops a deck

You’re right… I was thinking of the S2. Should be easy then.
