I Wanna be a DJ

So I’ve always been interested in DJing but I’ve never even scratched a record. I’ve only played DJ Hero which I know isn’t the real thing at all, but how can I start as a newb with no equipment?

You can download a trial version or LE version of some software and give that a shot to see if you like it. I’d look into:

Traktor
Serato
Virtual DJ

Honestly, the more important thing is the software, and how you like the workflow of it. Unless you’re using external FX hardware, the software will also be what will be providing your FX. Don’t worry about hardware until you figure out which software you like best. You can find most midi controllers and turntables that can accommodate each software platform, and many are remappable, so they’re not tied to one specific software.
