Yeah…apparently there are 2 ‘versions’ of the APC40…with differing mini note values.
Aha … found it, the non-working TSI’s had me confuzzled ..
Didn’t realize you set the LED output twice for each encoder…
Map LED = CCvalue = Normal Feedback
AND
Map LED = CCvalue + 8 = Range & 3/3 to get the modes
Ah fun and games ![]()
Should the same thing apply for buttons ?
no the buttons need a send monitor state on each one. they were also tricky at first o0
sort the controller config by “mapped to” and you can see what is going on for each one. (note there is a send monitor state on each one)
also found the other layout image
isn’t there modes on the apc on start-up. normal (more ableton geared) and ‘dumb’ with different notes and more generic?
think dumb mode is the better one to map with from exp of helping a mate with his.
Might give it a blast, have the rings mapped now but the mapped pots “stutter” unless I take my latency down to dangerously low levels :-S
Interesting you bring that up. Just sent my 40 in for repair yesterday do to the erratic behavior of the knobs. (i was only getting it on the lower 8) but i guess its a small isolated issue from what i saw on the ableton forums. give akai a call about that.
Side note-really nice support center at akai ![]()
Hmmm odd, seems to be localized to Traktor and related to the latency (-9ms sorts it out). Its affecting all the knobs on mine
Doesn’t effect Ableton at all, wonder is it due to dual mapping the Rings ?
Oh and thanks for the heads up on the send monitor state, I would’ve lost more hair on that one ![]()
Ahh your’s must be a bit diff. mine was globally

Yeah, the button CC’s on that second image are the same as mine, the knobs are different values though… removing the second LED mapping there is no stuttering on the knobs.
I can live with the default LED’s on the rings if the latency becomes an issue, 8.5ms seems to be ok but haven’t tried multiple effects and more button states yet :-S.
Very OT
and in response, I see your vid and raise you this…
Ooh… Still loving that tune as much as the first time I heard it play!
