I’m a VERY happy APC puppy !! But no-one else understands
Just picked up a steal of a deal on an unused APC40 for a whole $20 more than a APC20 !!
No one else understands how much of a deal I got .. so, yeah
Now the question is: Ableton or Traktor from here on in ?
The Traktor mappings I’ve seen (and tried) aren’t great & waiting on live to update to try the marshall mapping for Ableton.

Did I mention its even got that new controller smell (the GF noticed!)
If you need to do things quickly and last second, Traktor, if you want to be prepared and only play what you intended, Ableton. Then again, Ableton has a much larger learning curve, so be ready to spend ridiculous amounts of time getting down a few things in Ableton if you want an original setup. I’d vote Ableton (traktor is weird with the apc40 anyways).
Here is one of my old apc40 tsi’s you can check out. has 2 separate pages for loop/cuepoint, 4 decks, full effects and multiple modifiers.. Moved on to a different setup for my apc20+apc40 so I have not updated it for TSP2 but check it out as i think its a good starting point
There is led feedback on the encoders they just default to zero and you have to have the device in and turned on before you launch traktor. Like i said it was an old TSI and at the time i just wanted to come up with a layout to use only the APC. there is a ton of room for improvement on that but the basic mappings are there for everything and its pretty easy to change.
i forget which was which but setting the led options to 1/2/3 will change the type of led feedback (pan etc). also make sure you add 8 to the outgoing midi CC#
ok so the very tip right encoder is CH1 CC51 (the midi-in channel you use) but for midi out for led feedback its CH1 CC59. so for the encoders you add 8 to the CC#
sorry if my last post was a bit confusing
if you take a look at my TSI config. all the numbers are there to cheat with
Also wanted to add using the track selection buttons changes the midi CH for the device control section. In my old tsi ch1 was eq for deck c&d, ch2 was fx 1&3, and ch3 was fx2&4
My current setup uses bomes for smart buttons/encoders and you can also control ableton and tracktor at the same time by adding a toggle combo with bomes so you can just hit the combo buttons and it will change which app you are controlling
I highly recommend checking out bomes midi translator as well. Really opens up the hardware.
Your F2’s are my F3’s, your CC51 is my CC23 also my encoder rings work without changing the values +9
No wonder the TSI’s I’ve been trying we’re making no sense
Cheers anyhoo.. the encoder LED’s have me baffled though as can only assign a 0-127 value and range, anything other than 0.000000 & 1.000000 makes things screwy ?
