I’m a VERY happy APC puppy !! But no-one else understands

Just picked up a steal of a deal on an unused APC40 for a whole $20 more than a APC20 !!

No one else understands how much of a deal I got .. so, yeah

Now the question is: Ableton or Traktor from here on in ?

The Traktor mappings I’ve seen (and tried) aren’t great & waiting on live to update to try the marshall mapping for Ableton.

Did I mention its even got that new controller smell :sunglasses: (the GF noticed!)

If you need to do things quickly and last second, Traktor, if you want to be prepared and only play what you intended, Ableton. Then again, Ableton has a much larger learning curve, so be ready to spend ridiculous amounts of time getting down a few things in Ableton if you want an original setup. I’d vote Ableton (traktor is weird with the apc40 anyways).

Nice deal dude!

Try both, I loved mapping/using the APC with Traktor.

The APC40 is the SHIIIIZZZZZ!!

I build the APC80 already…but when i just used the APC40…it was JUST as fun!

The HouseQ mapping is the best for me.
But check the mappings section, there are a few!

ENJOY!!!

BTW…I also got both the 20 and 40 for a BARGAIN…at different times…so yeah…I understand!

AWESOMENESS!

Doing a mapping at the moment for it. I tried the houseQ, and the Red mapping neither twisted my biscuit though, just didnt “feel right”.

One thing I gotta ask though is there any way to display the encoder rings in “Bar mode” rather than single led mode ?

Gods theres ALOT of LED’s to map !!

HAHAHAHA

I am not sure myself…but ask the question in the mappings section. I am sure someone with help.

There is definitely a way…as I have both in my mapping.

Here is one of my old apc40 tsi’s you can check out. has 2 separate pages for loop/cuepoint, 4 decks, full effects and multiple modifiers.. Moved on to a different setup for my apc20+apc40 so I have not updated it for TSP2 but check it out as i think its a good starting point

also ill try and put together an image with what the mappings are for everything this week. didn’t plant to post this till i updated it

Stop All Clips=change pad functions from loop to cue (visual feedback on everything)
the rest is pretty easy to figure out

sweet deal

@ Kinetik

Just a heads up, there isn’t LED feedback on the encoders .. not crackers on that layout either but cheers ..

Cant for the life of me figure how to set the encoders to bar mode hrrrmmmm

Guess I’m more of a channel strip kinda guy :stuck_out_tongue:

I like my controllers to be “stupid proof” for those JD & Coke moments

love it!!

Just to keep things OT, I started a new thread in mappings regards some issues i’m having.. any ideas greatly appricated!

Excellent deal even!

You have no idea how close I came to buying a cough Numark mixmeister control !!

(In fairness it HAS got lotsa knobs and buttons and reasonably logical layout for the price).

There is led feedback on the encoders they just default to zero and you have to have the device in and turned on before you launch traktor. Like i said it was an old TSI and at the time i just wanted to come up with a layout to use only the APC. there is a ton of room for improvement on that  but the basic mappings are there for everything and its pretty easy to change.

i forget which was which but setting the led options to 1/2/3 will change the type of led feedback (pan etc). also make sure you add 8 to the outgoing midi CC#

Cheers for that, knew it couldnt be that hard

How’d you mean add 8 to the midi channels, you mean map everything for all 8channels ? or 1+9 ?

ok so the very tip right encoder is CH1 CC51 (the midi-in channel you use) but for midi out for led feedback its CH1 CC59. so for the encoders you add 8 to the CC#

sorry if my last post was a bit confusing

if you take a look at my TSI config. all the numbers are there to cheat with

this was also pretty helpful

once i have a bit more time Ill start uploading all my different templates for the diff hardware i have. I have a bunch of stuff for bomes as well

cheers

Also wanted to add using the track selection buttons changes the midi CH for the device control section. In my old tsi ch1 was eq for deck c&d, ch2 was fx 1&3, and ch3 was fx2&4

My current setup uses bomes for smart buttons/encoders and you can also control ableton and tracktor at the same time by adding a toggle combo with bomes so you can just hit the combo buttons and it will change which app you are controlling

I highly recommend checking out bomes midi translator as well. Really opens up the hardware.

Also Check out MLRV2 if you want monome functions

-j

And btw that is a really good deal

I’ve got completetly different values to you :stuck_out_tongue:

Your F2’s are my F3’s, your CC51 is my CC23 also my encoder rings work without changing the values +9

No wonder the TSI’s I’ve been trying we’re making no sense

Cheers anyhoo.. the encoder LED’s have me baffled though as can only assign a 0-127 value and range, anything other than 0.000000 & 1.000000 makes things screwy ?

Any ideas ?
