I’m soon to be a NI Maschine

… well, at least own one and be a djing billboard for all NI products. I just bought Native Instruments Maschine yesterday. Too bad it’s on back-order for a few weeks. :disappointed: Anyhow, I’m hoping others of you here have seen its awesomeness and are going to give it a go… cuz I have a lot to learn and am going to need help (hehe).

If you decide to give up on it just post it my way :stuck_out_tongue:

Cool purchase B33SON!

You lucky bastard

Sweet. Let us know how you rock it. Theres not much practical info about.

I had one on my shopping list then my car went KABooM. No Maschine for me for a while now.

im super interested in what you think about the maschine once you recieve it, b33s. im also looking to pick one up soon, hoping to pick up an “educational” version for a couple bills cheaper.i’d like to hear from an actual user how well the hardware compliments the software. from the look of the ni vids, it seems they have put alot of thought into the workflow of producing a track from start to finish. i’d also like to hear about the remixing abilities, and how easy it is to chop up samples and acapellas and whatnot. has anyone else got a chance to get there hands on one of these pieces yet?

I personally just wish they went so damn expensive i was in the music store the other day talking to the guy there about them and they are comming in the store for something like $1100 Aussie each - hard friggen core !!

Some guy at Guitar Center did a pretty good demo… I’ve seen it in action at NAMM where they have a huge screen with what the software is doing. That was really helpful. The thing to keep in mind is that you’re supposed to be able to do virtually everything just using the controller… That’s what really excited me. I hate mousing around in Ableton and Cuebase.

Anyhow, I liked this demo because its by a guy at Guitar Center… he indicates that he’s never read the manual. He just played with it for a couple months.

Any particular reason you went fot the Maschine as opposed to the the APC40? I know the APC is more geared towards Ableton and “producers” but I think its pretty similar to Maschine too right?

I’m going for the APC in a couple years hopefully (btw…I’ll trade you my Trigger Finger for your Maschine…straight-up…??) ha-ha

Several reasons… Maschine is a different beast. It’s not just a midi controller (although it has the same capabilities). It has integration with the Maschine software & VST. You can also use Maschine within Ableton or Cuebase when running as a VST. And lastly, I’ve heard rumors that NI may integrate Maschine with Traktor at some point. I figured I best get learning it.

Deal of the century. hehehe.

Ive got an old cake i can swap for a VCI-100.

Why wont anyone on this bloody forum just give me a VCI-100 damn you people.

Never!

I’ve had mine a good couple months now and i must say its a beast. I’ve had an mpc 2500 and 1000 and although this might not be as powerful as some may say, its the best i have used. For me its the work flow everything is super easy to get to. I find myself not looking at the computer screen, maybe its just the mpc habits. Chopping and sampling on the computer screen is awesome though! The step sequencer is pretty cool also. If you are just getting into producing like me, just making beats to scratch to its more then enough. Plus you can use it as a vst in ableton and other daws, so the possibilities are endless with it.

Hurray. Sounds like you’re happy with it and you mentioned something that I think is so understated in all aspects of DJing and Producing. WORK FLOW! I like to be really fast… probably because I have A.D.D. or something.

same here on my old mpcs i would get distracted so fast. It would take me forever to find that right snare and once i found it i forgot what i was going to do!

fa5ky… you pretty much just sold me on it, that is pretty much exactly what i wanted to hear about it. i, too, am just getting into production so the ease of the work flow is what im really looking for.

and b33son, ive also heard rumors of maschine-tPro integration, which got me even more excited on the product. in fact, i was browsing the ni production forums, and there are members claiming to already having the two softwares sync up using a virtual midi cable. and ive heard that switching from maschine controller to standard midi controller is a breeze, which means the possibilities could be endless with the two programs synced up together. cant wait to get that setup running…

So synced up could offer you the ability to create live loops and lay them over traktor songs in time? sounds awesome (but the workflow must be damn quick). Any ideas on what an integration with traktor would bring that syncing via jack and midi clock wouldn’t already do?

Nothing you cant already do with any other midi controller in the market and some spare time to map it out yourself

Agreed. In fact, I’d probably still stick with my Nano line because of their portability. But for music production I’d really like to have a product that has been thought out end to end… I already know how to DJ, so midi mapping what I want to do isn’t that hard. I don’t really know how to produce that well, so I want something that is just going to work, so I can put more of my energy into learning to produce great tracks and less time into mapping and figuring out my work flow.

Having a controller that I can use for DJing when I want is just a bonus.

switching from ‘maschine mode’ to ‘general midi controller’ mode is simply a matter of holding shift and pressing midi on the unit.
