I’ve been trying to figure out how to master my mashups and stuff because I record through Traktor, like, I’ll drop acapellas and samples etc on top in real-time because as of now I don’t know how to use any other DAWs. My question is, every time I record, it sounds as if the volume of the final track produced is much lower than it should be, so my conclusion was that I should probably look into mastering said tracks.
My question basically is, what would you guys suggest? Where should I take the final product from Traktor’s in-built recording to so that I can master it? Is it possible to get good software for that for free?
yeah i’ve tried it, i was sorta mulling it over in my sleep last night and am wondering if it’s related to the fact that since i’m recording through tractor it might be something in the way that traktor produces the final mix down, right now i’ve thrown the mashup into logic and i’m trying to get a multi presser, compressor and fatEQ going through it
Im not sure you need to go through all those steps. The track has already been mastered.
Just raise the track volume and export it inside logic. or even better throw a limiter on it and raise the gain.
But if its sound quality your after it probably just makes sense to create the mash-up in Logic from the start and modify the sounds individually. i’m an ableton guy but it cant be too hard to just drop samples in logic.
yeah i gotta really learn ableton/logic coz as of now all my mashups/bootlegs are done through tractor with the sample decks or lots of hot cues so i need to figure that out. i tried putting a limiter and then raising the gain but it seemed to still come out muffled, so instead i just stuck a compressor and multipressor and that seems to have brought out the muffled frequencies pretty well as of now
