Instant Gratification doesn’t seem to work for me

Hi DjTechtools,

I was super pumped to try the Twister Fighter Instant Gratification mapping to add some really cool effects into my set. Sadly, it doesn’t work like it does in the video and I don’t have the slightest clue how to get my setup to match the demo video.

I installed the utility, send the mapping to controller, add mapping in Traktor, etc.

  1. Rows 1-4 (starting from top, where USB plugins in) don’t seem to have the same effect per row. My understanding from the video is that row 1 is reverb or delay, row 2 is Filter, row 3 is reverb/delay (the opposite one), row 4 is beatmasher.

Here is what I get when I activate each knob…

button row 1 col 1 (top left) - loads Efx Unit 4 with: Filter90 LFO + ramp + Peak Filter
button row 1 col 2 - loads Efx Unit 4 with: Delay + Filter90 + Peak
button row 1 col 3 - loads Efx Unit 4 with: Peak Filter + Granu + Peak
button row 1 col 4 (top right) - loads Efx Unit 4 with: Beatslice + granu + format

button row 2 col 1 - loads Efx Unit 3: Delay + granu + phaser
button row 2 col 2 - loads Efx Unit 3: Reverb + granu + filter90
button row 2 col 3 - loads Efx Unit 3: Format + Gater + Phaser
button row 2 col 4 - loads Efx Unit 3: Format + delay + Phaser

button row 3 col 1 - loads Efx Unit 2: delay single efx unit
button row 3 col 2 - loads Efx Unit 2: polarwind single efx unit
button row 3 col 3 - loads Efx Unit 2: bass-o-matic single efx unit
button row 3 col 4 - loads Efx Unit 2: beatmasher single efx unit

button row 4 col 1 (bottom left) - loads Efx Unit 1 with: delay + filter + beatslice
button row 4 col 2 - loads Efx Unit 1 with: delay + peak filter + filter90
button row 4 col 3 - loads Efx Unit 1 with: delay + granu + ramp
button row 4 col 4 (bottom right): turning adds a filter or something and clicking knob turns everything off

The above doesn’t look right, but I don’t actually know whats supposed to be there so maybe the above is 100% spot on.

However, none of them sound good, and using the twister and then using the filter knobs on the s8 seems to be glitchy. Like I either need to use s8 filter knobs or twister but using one then the other doesn’t sound right…

not sure what to say. I tried to get this working, if anyone has any suggestions I’d be most grateful

Be sure to import the MFS file in to the Midifighter utility and send those new settings to the midi fighter. Then go in tho the Controller Manager and click on BIG IMPORT button which is located at bottom left of preferences screen and navigate to the TSI file - another screen will pop up asking you which categories do you want to import ( only the “controller mappings” and the “effect settings” should be checked)

Repeat this step one more time so successfully update the FX settings which I think might be the cause of the first issue.

Unfortunately I can’t say much about the integration with S8. Could you please make a short video with your phone to show us what happens?

Ok, i’ll dig into this shortly…i would like to get it working as intended…
in the meantime, is there a reference somewhere that indicates which Efxs are supposed to be loaded for each knob and what range of values are allowed? I noticed on a number of them that the dry/wet often would be locked to a limited range, again, that may be intended…
