Internal soundcard for everyday computing or just use my dj io for dj and internet?

Right, is it a good idea to use my dj i/o from Numark as my primary sound card for everyday use as well as djing?
Or should I use my internal sound card for the internets and keep my Numark i/o just for using Traktor?

Specs: late 2009 macbook, 3gigs ram, 2.0 ghz intel core 2 duo. Lastest traktor pro, numark dj io, kontrol x1 , and Numark M4 mixer.
Thank you in advance.

Unless you are afraid of “wearing it out” by using it for everyday computing.

I don’t see any the point in pulling out your audio cables when you aren’t DJ’ing, you are more likely to break it faster.

It’s still hooked to my computer. However, I am currently using a 1/8th cable from my monitors to the internal sound card.
I had an incident or two with the DJ in and out. I started to get whispy, distortion, as if the sound were about to break up. If that makes sense.
I reasoned the external card was not playing nice with mavericks, as I have not had this particular problem in Traktor.
So, I decided to use the internal card for Mavericks and leave the I/O for djing.
My only gripe is now I have two cords on my desktop.

It (was) a known driver issue with the IO and Mavericks and Higher (ML was fine) and unless its been resolved since “can” happen in Traktor as well, its the very reason I sold my DJIO (IMHO You have been lucky).

It happened for me if I plugged in/out the card without a reboot. After a reboot it would return to normal until I plugged it out and back in again without restarting (sometimes certain apps would be ok after plugging it back in, sometimes not).

Honestly though, I’d start looking at a better (OS supported) card, you are playing with fire - you should be able to pick up a NI Audio2 used for around $50

AH HA, I thought as much. I am getting paid this weekend and will pick one up.

I had an IO, thing did a great job, just stick with it!
