Introducing ‘Spun’ - a song info grabber that works with Traktor

Hello everyone!

I am happy to introduce my first Native OSX application “Spun”.

Spun runs in the background working with Traktor’s broadcast mode and grabs the track name and the time that the track is played.

So now when you release a mixtape you can include a text file that shows the tracks in the mix AND the time the song is starting to fade in.

To setup Traktor for Spun visit the broadcast settings area and change (in Traktor settings / broadcast):

IP Address = localhost
Port = 8008
Proxy = None

Launch Spun and then click the Broadcast icon inside Traktor.

Start playing your tunes and when done click Save in Spun.

Download Spun here and let me know what you think!

Yeah I emailed hedgehog asking him to add my features. I am a Scrobbler user as well.

solid! any chance to customize the output format?

Sure I would be up for changing it around. What do you have in mind?

Nice Work. I see this being very useful in my near future

Nice one!

Thanks everyone! Has anyone tried Spun out yet?

I got a report of it stalling after the first song and wondering if I introduced a bug…

EDIT: Found the bug! New version uploaded!

Feedback wanted!

Going to check this out tonight. Just got a MBP, so its time to use some of these OSX apps.

I would try but I’m running a pc. Do you happen to have a link to your friend’s set that you posted the tracks for? I would love to have a listen if it’s online.

He is a blog reader but not a forum user. I’ll ping him and find out if he recorded it - originally it was done on mixify!

I found a bug where some song authors are null but the track names come through. I’ll fix that tomorrow and get a new version up.

Thanks everyone for the interest!

PS: I am going to add recording support so you can use this instead of Traktor to record mp3’s via LAME and have the track names appear!

I was thinking of having some interface where the user could customize if they wanted (for example):

  1. Artist - Song - time
  2. Artist - Song - time

Or..

  1. Song - Artist - time
  2. Song - artist - time

Or

  1. Artist - Song - Label - (Year) - time

… Etc… Really as many options as the user wants, kind of like Traktors interface for saving a playlist as HTML, except without being horribly annoying like the traktor interface

i´d love to use it but the thing is, that i´m mixing externally und software can ever know what song is played at the certain moment.

OK - I’ll add a preferences pane where you can basically move around the items like this:

{tracknum} - {artist} - {title} \n

Then folks can format it however they like

@edparis: Wish I had a solution for external users. :disappointed:
