iPhone midi controller to control DJ Software

iPhone midi controller to control DJ Software

I’m attempting to create an application for my iPhone to enable the phone to act as a hardware interface to control software on my computer through midi mapping. For example to assign cue buttons in software such as Ableton/Traktor onto a GUI interface controlled on the Phone.

I am aware that previous versions of this have been created, but I’m trying to learn how to create these myself. I have began to learn making basic apps for the iPhone but not really sure where to begin with the above.

Having created a GUI of buttons I’m struggling to get these to send midi messages to the software. I am guessing the Core Midi frameworks will be essential to this task but was hoping someone with experience of this could help me get started perhaps with example code or a description of how to implement the necessary classes.

Cheers

Mike

An application? There’s already loads. touchOSC probably the best now it does MIDI

that would be pretty sick. good luck and keep us posted.

This looks promising iPad Traktor Controller – TrakProDj – Synthtopia (they have an iphone app too)

Why re-invent the wheel? TouchOSC does what you want in spades…

But if this is purely a learning project, IOS developer forums would likely be the best place for that question…

If you wanted to build a hardware controller, we have all the answers

That said, there could be IOS developers around these parts as well..
