itunes is the devil…
ive had it a week and ive completely destroyed my music collection with duplicates and messy file folders… am i the only one?
i am on pc… apple can go do one at the minute because i am ragged
I stayed away from it for a long long time as I didnt understand the fundamentals of it. But as of late i have been using it to sort my files as the smart playlists are to good to ignore.
great start is to set your preferences which you will find in the edit drop down box
in there you can fine tune how you want your itunes to work, ipod sync, save location etc.
There is a box you can check there stops copys being made when importing.

Even tho it sucks to be enabled by default, nothing that can’t be fixed with a few clicks 
i never really got used to it…it’s so lumbering…

Only use it to sync my iPhone…

I use iTunes for playlists, and MP3Tag for tagging various types of audio files. Hasn’t failed me since I started.
I’ve always preferred organizing music myself, so I don’t even use itunes. Spotify for the ipod 
I concur. Devout PC-Head, but iTunes is brilliant IMHO.
ok… im going to stop it making copys, and im backng up my music, and im wiping my lappy anyways. im gonna go in for round two and try to organise everything myself… again…
its gets ocd when it comes to this stuff =/ haha
one more problem i had actually is that i couldnt set it as my default media player? wavs yea… sure, but other files, like mpeg’s when i tried to browse and find it, nowhere to be found =/ but like most things im sure theres a way around… and i do like the store (when it connects dammit)
