Jog problem + VID
Hi
I have a normal vci-100, not the SE version (yeat 
). The left jog makes weird sound, like something is between something. The vci is now. At the first time it worked great… zero strange noises. After 15min of playing it started to get creapy noise out of it. See yourself

funny…i’ve got the same noise.sounds a bit like grinding.i’m sure i’ve seen a post about this on the forum and its nothing to worry about and can be fixed
mines on the left side aswell.sorry though i can’t find it at the moment.i’ll keep looking but if you find it first please post it underneath for me.
Hmm…I have that same problem (mine’s used too, just bought it from a friend). Doesn’t seem to mess with functionality though. I just hope it doesn’t have long term effects on the equiptment.
unscrew your jogg & make sure that the scews underneath are not loose & rubbing on the underside of the jog.
It happened to me. There is also, if you do a search, a pdf explaining how to fix a sticky jogg, but it sounds like you have something rubbing underneath…
right on I’m gonna try that right now (the screws idea), but also, if I DID need to use some lubricant, should it have “high dielectric characteristics” or on the contrary, low characteristics of the sort?

Ok so, lubricated, messed with the nuts and bolts, and still the absolute same issue…starting to have second thoughts on having gotten a vci =...hopefully once I get the new firmware (once you guys have it), it’ll get me a bit more pumped…in the mean time, any suggestions?
One more update…I found out what the problem was, and it’s so far not fixable (though not detrimental hopefully to functionality). When you open the actual encoder (the box of mechanisms under each wheel), you’ll find a very thin disk much like that inside an old flopy but made of a different material (I’d assume)…well, that’s deformed much like a record deforms under the sun, so one side actually touches the optical reader every time that side passes by it and makes a slight friction type sound.
Doubt anyone can fix this, but if there’re possible fixes, let me know…
In any case, I think I’m getting rid of my VCI after three days of having it…My style of controllerism doesn’t quite require it. We’ll see though =).

Thanks for the informations Zaggasaurus. I am sending my VCI-100 to warranty from the shop i bought. Hopefully they will trade this for a new one.

I have noticed this has just started to happen on the right Jog of my SE 
. Gona take the bottom off as explained in the PDF and have a look. I’m hoping as its only recently started happening its just a screw or lubrication issue. Pissed off about it though. Are the VCI 300’s built in the same way?
