Hi forum!
I’ve been on google all day on how to map Jog wheels, coming back and forth to posts on this forum and after reading a ton of posts and doing some trial and error on the side I thought I’d just ask for help now.
I’m trying to achieve the effect Ean has in his effects videos, he’s going into effects mode and his Jog-wheel is used to change the dry/wet parameter along with the other parameters. While he’s spinning and rotating it back and forth he’s keeping it alive and all the effects in the group are on, but when he ‘releases’ the Jog, the effects are turned off again.
How on earth do I map this in Traktor Pro 2, my controller is a BCD 3000.
I just need help with the touch/rotate/spin = on, release/stop spin = off part, I assume the rest is pretty straight forward from there.
BCD isn’t supported with a touch sensitive jog wheels, therefor this type of mappings couldn’t be applied to it. However you could assign any button on the controller to engage effect and still use a jog to manipulate the parameter of that effect.
Still wish for BCD4000 with touch sensitivity in jogs. Love that design man - I could map it in a hundred different ways.
Technically you can map 3K to call up effects by turning platter in both sides but option to stop them is to dedicate a button. This button should kill the effect instantly and set up the best parameter for the next usage.
PS. I have my trusty BCD so if you up to share I would like to check your FX mapping.
Oh but of course! I’d be honored to share my mapping with you when it’s done and hear what you think!
I have a gig this Saturday, so (of course) I’ll have whipped up a beta by then, but I’m really gonna wanna look into the mapping of different effects, I might even go with a keyboard-hybrid kind of thing . Imagine having 28 slightly/-different effect-macros set up and being able to just pick and choose by the press of a letter on the keyboard - although I am aiming for as little computer contact as possible, people wanna see you turning knobs, not checking facebook :b
It’s “just” a small party and people are just gonna wanna listen to the pop music they know with a slight dj twist over it, so there’s no reason for rushing a layout for doing loops, but that is also a thing I’m gonna be very interested in looking into.
I’m a computer programmer so the entire mapping-with-macros has gotten me really excited.
You know the fn buttons on laptops? - IMO it should have 4 of those, be 4 times as small and do 4 times as much!
ps. the reason I have to do the entire thing from scratch (haha…) is because I’ve formatted my macbook and updated the traktor software so the mappings were… pretty basic.. a lot of the mappings online has cool stuff but none of them really ‘had everything I wanted’, so I’ve just stolen ideas from everywhere, standing on the shoulders of giants
a .tsi file which should be imported ‘using the big import button twice!’ - as everyone else says
a .txt file which contains the story of my life, but also a guide to the mapping. I haven’t made any
pictures yet since, I might want to change this a couple of times more so I didn’t want to spend
time in photoshop.
