Hello DJTT community. I just moved to Victoria, BC for the summer to take a course on Web Design. I pretty much know no one in the city and since I’m only 17 there are no ways for me to get any gigs. Is there anyone out there living in Victoria that might be able to help me get into the scene by hooking me up with a slot or a gig? Or pointing me in the right direction on how to get gigs? hey misha i lived in vic for a couple months and have a few mates there who do shows.. might be tricky because of your age, but give me a couple days or so and the very least i can probably point you in a good direction to get your feet wet.
victoria is gorgeous, well the whole island is something else. i had a blast living there… very cozy smalltown vibe but has lots of bigcity luxuries like respectable music scene. If you’re wasted downtown and have to walk home after the club because you blew your cab fair, chances are you don’t have to walk too far to get home! that was a BIG plus lol.
Few months back after I had moved from Victoria to Vancouver, one of my favourite producers Dilemn played a show in Victoria and nobody in Vancouver booked him!
I was so choked that I missed it, but that’s one of the nice things about that city is that the promoters there really know their stuff and bring in some big talent you would expect to see in a bigger city like Vancouver.
