KRK Rokit Powered 5 G2 monitors…

Hey all, looking to buy a pair of these as the sound my current 2.1 system knocks out is so fabricated it’s a joke. They’re small, but that’s what I’m after really…

My questions are:

  1. Has anyone got/used them and what are their opinions on them?

  2. I’m going to get an S4 at some point next year, the connection would just be 2 balanced outs to the ins on the KRK’s right?

  3. I would possibly like to add an amp later on, would this be possible?

I have these for over a year in my studio, and love them! the sound is so crystal clear it’s amazing!

Yep, that’s right, connect to them straight from the s4 and away ya go!

They are powered, so you DON’T need an amp!

I used to own a pair (had to sell due to a move). Imo, these Rokits are a pretty good bang for your buck.

yes

Sure. The amp wouldn’t do anything for the Rokits, though (ldo)

Excellent, do you think you do a size comparison for me please?! As I have no idea? Haha.

Thanks!

Well, I would disagree on the crystal clear sound, at least to me the high and mid ranges sounded quite mushy in comparison to the Yamaha HS-80M.

But really, as far as buying speakers goes, there is only one useful advise to give: Go check them out in a store somewhere and compare with other speakers, hearing is way to subjective for any other approach to really work…

Aha, that is good advice..!

P.S. Just seen that you can change the voltage on the back, what will it need to be for the UK?

230/245

230v

Imo it depends how far you live from the substation haha :3 can be between 230 and 245.

I don’t wanna blow them when I turn them on!! Haha.

15 Volts wont make a difference, it will be the same current whether its 230 or 240 and its current that would blow them

Cool, thanks!

dont own them (yet ) but as far as i have read they’re the best for that price, if you want better sound quality you’ll have to pay for it…

Yep  I’m going to get the S4 first as my Omni only has one RCA master out!

mhm S4 or monitors first? that’s a tricky one for me as I have a behringer vmx 200 and fear that the sound quality will be rather shit and I’ll hear it with the rokits

does anybody know if the sound quality worsens if i connect KRKs to a mixer and connect the s4 to that?

i just bought some rokit 8 and waiting for them to arrive..

I just watched a video on them and the guy said that ideally, it would be better to run them direct. I’m not sure how much of a decrease in quality you’d get though?

Depends if you’re lucky enough to have XLR or balanced outs on your mixer I suppose!

I have a pair of 8’s and they are fantastic. I really can’t speak enough about them. I took my time at Guitar Center and listened to many different pairs and I just loved the quality from the KRKs.

got 2 of these A3X and the Sub7 from Adam, spent over 2 hours at a local dealer deciding on it. got the monitors first and later this year the sub.

go out and hear for yourself, your ears got to decide. but remember, listening to only 1 pair wont get you anywhere good.
