I’m just leaving work at my day job, & will check in again when I get home, to see if anybody can help me.
I’ve installed iTunes 10 on my Macbook Pro, but Traktor Pro2 still appears to be showing iTunes playlists from a couple of weeks ago, when I was running iTunes 9.
Has anybody had any similar problems? …i’m playing out tonight, & all my music’s managed in iTunes!!
All good here as well, but iTunes certainly seems to gearing itself to Mac peripherals (iPad, iPhone etc.) and iStore ‘cloud’. The updates all seem to be for those services, so how necessary are they for PC users?
Sorry for the delay in following this up, but it’s been a fairly hectic weekend!
So to re-cap, on friday afternoon, I noticed that my iTunes playlists in Traktor were out of sync with the actual playlists in iTunes.
I presumed it was an iTunes thing, but this turned out not to be the case.
I don’t know the exact reason, but it’s got something to do with having an SSD & a normal drive in my MacBook pro, & moving my home drive off the SSD (boot drive) to the normal drive.
I got through friday night using my back-up old MacBook (Core Duo, 2Gb), which seemed to work ok with my Kontrol S4 (only 2 decks enabled, & I didn’t bother using much in the way of fx). Then spent the whole of saturday, re-installing my MacBook Pro, keeping my home drive on the SSD, but just putting my music on the 2nd drive.
I know several people have recommended moving the Home drive like this (…& I did it properly using the advanced options in the accounts tab of system pref’s), but i’ve now gone back to keeping it on my SSD.
I had the opposite issue where when itunes updated itself, my library was in tatters and i didnt find out till gig time, luckily i’m organised with my files and folders so i was able to do drag and drop all night, no need for the search function.
donning my fireproof vest as i say this but windows media player has the best meta data editor of all the media managers i’ve tried. i wish traktor could read its library.
maybe iTunes/previous iTunes libraries? and delete the old ones??
not to sure tho
iTunes rant:
I wish iTunes would properly write id3 tags. I’m sick of changing something in iTunes then loading it in traktor and something different pops up.. then iTunes reads that and changes it back. For example I change my comments to the Key and A LOT of times it changes back sometime by the time it reaches tractor.. and the sometimes that changes iTunes and sometimes it doesn’t. I don’t think it would bother me that much but how it works is just TOO inconsistent. It only does certain things in certain ways sometimes!
and also with albums too.. I don’t care what album the track is from so I just change them all to blank.. I load it into traktor with a blank album and a few days later iTunes manages to change its album back, so then traktor can’t find it, because for some reason the only way to consolidate iTunes is artists/ablum/track which is ABSOLUTELY stupid.
/rant
yurp. I had my entire DJ set separately stored on my SSD but a lot of the tunes were duplicated in my iTunes library, so when I used beatunes to tidy everything up I stupidly didn’t realise it would delete most of my DJ set. I still have the music but I’m going to have to reorganise everything from scratch
Hi,
I believe i have some kind of similar problem:
Since like 2 weeks ago Traktor can’t show the most recent version of my Itunes LIbrary!
Usually its enought to right-click refresh on Itunes in Traktor, to see Tracks that i just added, but now the most recent tracks are the ones that i added two weeks ago! ( In traktor - itunes works pefectly)
Ok i don’t know any aproach to fix it!
Itunes is on the latest version and Traktor is running on 2.0.1 !!
ehm HElp???
I know your steez. Same thing happens for me quite regularly (but in an unpredictable kind of way). But I sort my “crate” playlists by key and then consolidate - so it’s qickly changed back. Still annoying though.
Thank you photojojo!
I checked that and somehow my itunes library was pointing to an older itunes xml file!
now everything is perfect!
Thanks for the hint!
