The numark redwaves look really nice but they remind me of skullcandys and and those break in a second AND have horrible sound, no volume. I have used some pioneer 2000s before at the same gig i was using my grados. I prefer the open ear design really, and i dont see why having 500 dollar cans to be a good investment while DJing. I only need the headphones to cue, not to hear the intricacies in a song that i cant find unless i have a full range headphone with a 500 DAC attached.

I have a pair of V-Moda Crossfades and they work excellent as DJ headphones. The isolation is good, they’re very comfortable and you get nice monitoring audio.
They’re not reference headphones though, so expect slightly heavier base, perfect for EDM, maybe a bit much for rock and classical. Otherwise great sound, I use them every day.
Also, you can get customized colors and engravings. Like your DJ name.

mr ellaskins turned me onto the company! Thats how i found out about the DJs! The retros look nice, but they just dont have that boner inducing flavor to them, ya dig?
also, i was thinking of getting my flight headset and hook it up to my mixer. I have my private pilots license and the headphones would be rad to use. Though the mic isnt 1/4inch on airplanes, its a standard size like 1/16th or something, i found some adapter to make it work. What do you think of that?

I know Steve Aoki used a custom-made pair for awhile and if he used them they must be pretty strong. I watched a video of him talking about Pioneer HDJ-2000s and he went on about how brutal he is on headphones. If the guy used them then they must be ok.
The isolation in those is pretty good so that would probably work okay. You might even be able to get the mike to work with the right combination of cables.
