Hello everybody, as a new guy in the DJTT forums i have been searching for a couple of days now for a headphone thread and i didnt seem to find one. Today i took action and created one for us. So :
Tell us what headphones do you use or which ones do you hope to get in the future, also share your opinions on them.
I read somewhere about it but even with all my eforts i could find it. Well, i myself have the technics RP-DJ 1200 with which i was very satisfied the last 2 years but now the sound is getting a little muddy, so i am in search of a new pair. I am thinking about the hd25s or the mixrs. The latter only as a fashion statement apparently.
It’s the same as with studio monitoring headphones. You have to make a decision: High quality sound or glamorous appearance.
Did you have a look at the Audio Technica ATH-Pro 700 Mk2. They look quite sexy and are said to have quite a nice sound. Wasn’t able to test it myself yet though.
If i am gonna go to the ATH 700mk2 i might as well go to the hdj2000-k which are better in looks but not in sound and definetly i believe worse than the 25s(soundwise)
If its for DJing/general listening purposes the Mixrs will no doubt do the job just fine, sure they will not have the sound discoloration you need for studio use but they do look decent and should sound fine and loud (They would really want to for the feckin price) my preference is Substance over style, but everyone is different.
I’m not even going to bother to argue with your choice on this one - its your money.
BTW I rock out on my Sony MDR-V6’s - 80’s styleeeeeee
Great pair the the v6s, with the mixrs the problem is that some say(their credibility is questionable) that they have sound equal to the pros. The pros i have used a bit and they didn’t sound like a 400$ headphone. So now with the same price you can get the 25s or the mixrs and this is where my diillema stands… However i will happily continue rockin my 1200s!
I read and saw several reviews of the beats series and there was nobody who did not complain about their sound quality in view of their price.
P.S. The Audio Technicas are much cheaper than the Pioneer HDJ 2000 k you mentionned. Bad comparison…
Nevertheless deevey put it into words. Everything is said
Perhaps not, but they do twist in ways that most other “dj headphones” do not which make swivel unnecessary (much like my v6’s) IMHO swivel is only a factor if the headband is solid and doesn’t allow twisting motions.
