Now that Maps is online (great work BTW), how about we close the “Controller Mappings” forum so no new threads can be started and create a new forum called “Controller Mapping Discussions”
or
just rename the current forum to “Controller Mapping Discussions”?
The idea is to get people to use the new mapping database for mapping publications.
I was thinking about this yesterday. How are we planning to get the current mappings posted into the Maps? Can we stick each mapping on it’s own page and then have a claim this mapping link? It would need some type of approval process I guess to make sure it really was their mapping.
Make available to upload 2 files instead of just 1 … in my case i was trying to upload my Lemur-Serato Map but the problem is that if you upload only mappings you wont have the lemur file …
We could send out an email to the forum users (using vBulletin) and request, if they have added a mapping in the forum, to move it themselves to the new mapping database???
i just wanted to add something here…the people who are uploading edits of originals should really be encouraged by admins/moderators to include some kind of change log… just calling something an edit isn’t very helpful
Yes, I’ve noticed a few mappings that have exactly the same description of the original mapping. I’m not sure if it’s just people testing the site, or if they are genuine mappings. When a user creates an “edit” they are presented with the form to edit the description and a form to add their release notes. I can add a message to those forms to encourage the description and release notes to be edited.
Any chance we can upload our manuals for our mappings to the Maps page as well? IDK about everyone else, but i see alot of guys with fairly lengthly PDF files. Or maybe even just make it possible for the user to view multiple images?
What people are doing at the moment is putting their mapping file and PDF in a zip file then uploading that. You can put a quick description on the mapping page but they download the PDF with the mapping file.
