maybe silly ?, trying to set up my midi keyboard

maybe silly ?, trying to set up my midi keyboard

hi hopefully we can all get a laugh (and an answer) out of this question:

i am playing around with my evolution mk225 midi keyboard and i would like to assign midi controls to the piano keys. my issue is that the keys are velocity sensitive so they send out different midi data depending on how hard you hit the keys.

does anyone know how to turn that off and just make it send the same midi data no matter how hard i hit the keys?

thanks.

I don’t have this keyboard so I don’t know if there’s some specific setting… that’d probably be the easiest way.

I can think of a couple solutions that you might consider:

  1. You could use Bome’s to translate a series of data generated by the key to one midi note that you can then map to.

  2. You might also be able to monitor the key strike… say it always starts off with the same Midi note, then just map to that note and ignore the rest.

so your software is registering the velocity value instead of the note on/off state?

thank you for the advice, i tried 2) since i have midi hack installed and figured it out.

Usually devices have a way of turning off velocity sensitivity on the device itself if that is what you desire.

Option 2 is the fun way to do it though :stuck_out_tongue:

There has to be something in the manual explaining how to turn off the velocity data

the manual is sparse, i just reread it, nothing covering how to do it.

i just reread my last post, oops i meant to say i have midi hack installed and i watched what was going on.
