Wow, you’d think that that Reloop Mixer is just perfect, before finding out it doesn’t even have a integrated soundcard? What’s up with that? It does come with a USB hub, but what’s the point if there’s not a soundcard… Massive oversight if you’ll ask me.
Any hub that’s part of a mains powered device will be powered itself.
Yep.
The logic for not including a soundcard is simple tbh; licensing fees for Traktor/Serato certification. It costs more to have a scratch-certified audio interface, and if they included a non-scratch certified interface for those who just mix using USB controllers, everyone else would just moan that it’s not certified.
Hence the logic behind putting a USB hub in the mixer - anyone notice that it’s 3 port? That’s 1 port for the audio interface, and two for modular controllers or CDJ-style devices. Specifically, the setup is intended for people to use a Rane SL2 or Audio 6, and a pair of Reloop RMP-3 Alphas. The USB connection to the RMP-3s gives midi control over FX, looping, etc etc, and the Audio 6/SL2 gives timecode support. It also means you’re not limited to one particular software package, as afaik Serato and NI won’t give certification to a product which is already certified for the other, hence why even the DJM-900 is “only” Traktor certified.
You could also use a pair of RP-6000s or other turntables and a soundcard to control decks A and B, and a pair of Contours or X1 & F1 to control decks C and D.
Yes, I get that. Too bad, since I don’t and nor ever will need timecode just the soundcard like the DB4. With this mixer, you still have too many cables. So for software users, I think the DJM 750 is a better idea.
If only more companies will adopt the USB hubs like NI and Reloop are now doing…
There isn’t much point using timecode when your hardware supports MIDI directly. Do the RMPs even allow MIDI control during audio CD playback?
And Serato is the only DJ software out there that can’t make use of a generic sound card. They don’t avoid licensing devices like the DJMs because of NI, it’s because all non controller Serato hardware is handled by Rane.
The Korg Volca series looks super fun…
Oh god, it STILL looks like a toy ![]()
Indeed… That caps are making it even more cheap.
Oh and look, Vestax once again completely missing the point:
Rebadged Serato controller with 3 pots and an encoder instead of 4 pots in the FX section, sigh.
So you meant Traktor and not Serato?
No, it’s a rebadged Serato controller with a Traktor mapping. Serato controllers have 3 pots and 1 encoder, for the “beats” parameter of the effect.
It is a Serato controller, with a different faceplate intended for Traktor.
Completely agree that silver hard plastic pots and faders make anything look cheap and nasty.
One thing they sort of glossed over: they’ve crippled the DJM-750… no HPF/LFP per channel, so you can’t adjust two channels simultaneously. Brilliant move there, morons.
That’s kinda what the DJM 850 is for.
It’s upgrade for DJM 700 tho… You won’t find filter knobs there ether.
Well that’s a bit ridiculous… if Reloop can put them on a mixer half the price, why can’t Pioneer?
I don’t see any filter knobs on your beloved RMX 40? Who would buy the DJM 850 if the 750 had all its features?
The RMX-40 is a 600 clone though. Check the brand new RMX-80, since it’s going head-to-head with the 750.
